Godolphin Mile (12:20) – Soliste Thunder

The Godolphin Mile is always run at a solid pace and Al Fefud is the one to beat. He looks a new horse since joining the Seemar stable and running on dirt. He ran a great trial for this behind Hot Rode Charlie.  However, the Japanese raider Soliste Thunder is the one I want to be on at an each-way price. His most recent run behind the proper horse, Café Pharoah, is the best form on offer and although he will need to adapt his run style to suit the Meydan track bias, he is my idea of a bet.

Dubai Gold Cup (12:55) – Rodrigo Diaz

Manobo at the time of writing this is an odds-on fav and I don’t expect him to get any bigger than that, but I am not in the business of betting odds-on shots. Stay Foolish was a good winner in Saudi last month in their big staying handicap, but off level weights he has a bigger ask. The David Simcock trained Rodrigo Diaz at a double figure price is worth our each way play. He is entitled to come on a lot for his pipe-opener against Manobo last time out, running on well at the end. For those that really like a price – the straight forecast of Manobo and Rodrigo Diaz is also worth a small bet.

Al Quoz Sprint (13:35) – Man Of Promise

Man Of Promise looked an absolute monster in the trial for this and I don’t fancy opposing him now  – but he isn’t a working man’s price. I’ll be betting him on the power price distance special and cheering “how far” from the moment he sits off the pace setters.

UAE Derby (14:10) – Pinehurst (nap)

I fancied Pinehurst for the Saudi Derby last month and I fancy him to win again now. He looks a proper Bob Baffert Kentucky Derby prospect, but let’s not go there just yet. He holds the majority of the field on form and collateral form. I’d go as far as saying he is my NAP of the card.

Golden  Shaheen (14:45) – Red Le Zele

One of the most underrated contests on the card, the Golden Shaheen has given us some great finishes over the years and last year’s runner up Red Le Zele deserves to win this. Connections have campaigned him with this race in mind keeping him fresh with his only serious race running behind Café Pharoah and Soliste Thunder.

Dubai Turf (15:20) – Lord Glitters

Who the hell doesn’t want to cheer on Lord Glitters in a big race? He is ridden for luck and will be making a late charge and we will be left hoping jockey Danny Tudhope gets his fractions right hitting the sweet spot of ‘not too soon, not too late’ when hitting the winning post. At the prices, we are getting fair compensation and outside of the Japanese favourite Schell Meister, there isn’t a horse in the field to fear for Lord Glitters.

Dubai Sheema Classic (15:55) – Authority

Yibir heads the market for the Sheema Classic, but he got the car-park draw and I am left very, very curious about Authority stepping up in trip here rather than running in the Dubai Turf after his Neom Classic victory in Saudi (cough, Arc Horse, cough cough). Authority ran an excellent race when second to the mighty Contrail last November, so the 1m 4f trip not a concern. Maybe we will end up seeing some more of Authority come next October?

Dubai World Cup (16:30) – Life Is Good

I very fondly remember that performance from Arrogate’s win here and that commentary from California Chromes win and I expect Life Is Good to join them. We ain’t going to get rich betting him that way, but I do think he has the run style to win by a street here and will be betting him to win by the biggest distance possible. In the ‘without market‘, Bob Baffert’s County Grammar makes a lot of appeal and maybe is even one to drop into the straight forecast on.
