WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS!

13:55 –  Eavesdropping

This doesn’t look a deep race, so last month’s Lingfield scorer EAVESDROPPING is taken to make light of a penalty. She improved further as she opened her account in this sphere at the third attempt, always travelling smoothly and well on top at the finish. There should be even more to come now. Monkfish’s half-sister Fishcake didn’t show that much in a bumper but is likely to do better now hurdling over a longer trip and is feared most.

14:30 – The Flying Sofa

THE FLYING SOFA can boast a positive record at this track, yet to finish out of the first two, and he could be worth chancing to return to form back at this venue. He didn’t come on for his reappearance as expected at Fontwell last time, but he has now fallen to a career-low mark, and represents a yard with a good record here. Fairway Freddy, who has also tumbled in the weights, may prove the biggest danger.

15:05 – Morfee

MORFEE was in the process of running well when departing late on at Exeter 10 days ago and, provided that spill hasn’t left a mark, Seamus Mullins’ charge is weighted to make a winning handicap debut back hurdling and up in trip. Legal Rights is sure to be popular having made it three wins from his last four starts at Fontwell last month, but he may have to settle for silver here.

15:40 – Flying Verse

A chance is taken on FLYING VERSE reviving after a break as he’s back to only 1 lb higher than when scoring at Kelso in the autumn. He has failed to complete on his last two starts, but he should have conditions in his favour here, and this doesn’t look a deep race. I See You Well’s good course record means he is next on the list, while Captain Tommy will also have a say if able to back up his latest second place finish at Leicester.

16:15 – Call Off The Dogs

Admittedly, CALL OFF THE DOGS didn’t appear to get home on his sole previous attempt at this trip back in November 2020, but conditions were testing that day and his stamina may well pass the test on this better ground at a track which doesn’t place the emphasis too much on stamina. If so, he will have every chance of going one better than at Fontwell last time, so is preferred to Veteran Tzar de L’Elfe.

16:50 – Military Tactic

The vote goes to MILITARY TACTIC, who travelled well throughout when finishing a clear second on debut for this yard at Southwell a fortnight ago. That was his first run for eight months, but by far his best performance in this sphere, so he should be competitive again if coming forward from that. Hackbridge, a course and distance winner on his latest hurdles start, remains with potential in this sphere and can provide the biggest threat.
