WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS!
14:10 – Monkstreet
The Gordon Elliott team are always worth following around Downpatrick and MONKSTREET with Jack Kennedy riding can land the opening maiden hurdle on Sunday. His fourth-place finish behind Three Stripe Life on his rules debut at Fairyhouse and his subsequent third to Grand Jury at Punchestown looks the best form on offer. This horse should provide the Cullentrea House team with another winner in this race with The Flier Begley and Vinnie Is Busy looking his biggest dangers.
14:40 – Prevaricate
PREVARICATE can secure back-to-back wins here following his victory at Leopardstown earlier this month and provide Gordon Elliott with another victory in this Rated Hurdle. The Cullentrea House team have secured five victories over the past decade and know what it takes to win this prize. The son of Fame And Glory is lightly raced and has more scope to progress further with his runs behind Whatdeawant and Daily Present looking solid from earlier in the season.
15:15 – Fiston Des Issards
My Manekineko returns to hurdles and is looking for back-to-back wins in this 2-mile 3-furlong Handicap Hurdle for trainer James Nash. The now 13-year-old is rated 7Ibs higher than last years success off 102 but jockey Gavin Brouder takes off his valuable 5Ib claim to help his chances on Sunday. However, this race won’t take much winning in my opinion, so a chance should be taking with FISTON DES ISSARDS who looks poised to strike on his handicap debut for Gordon Elliott. He’s not shown much in maiden hurdles this season, but an opening mark of 107 looks manageable and a positive along with a step-up in trip which can see him score.

15:45 – Joshua Webb
Noel Meade and Sean Flanagan had a great day at Naas last Sunday with both Highland Charge and Diol Ker winning big races, and I think JOSHUA WEBB can provide them with another big Sunday success in the Ulster National. This horse ran behind some nice types over hurdles, including Gigginstown pair Clonflated and Run Wild Fred. The son of Flemensfirth is slowly learning over fences with cheekpieces bringing out further improvement when second at Gowran Park earlier this month. He has a nice profile for this race off an official rating of 122 and I’m hopeful of a big run at a nice each-way price.
17:25 – Landrake & Tenzing (Straight Forecast)
LANDRAKE and TENZING stand out here for Gordon Elliott and Willie Mullins following efforts behind Facile Vega at Leopardstown over Christmas. The Willie Mullins runner has 12-lengths to make up on Landrake from that race and I’d be surprised if he turns the form around in this closing bumper. A second-place effort behind Madmansgame for Landrake stands-out better for me than Tenzing’s third to Patsy’s Honour at Down Royal, and I think the straight forecast looks the best bet in the lucky last at Downpatarick this Sunday.
