THE COLA KID opened his account for this yard over course and distance two starts back and remains with plenty of handicapping scope on the pick of his form. He has looked back in top form lately, losing little in defeat when beaten only by a thriving sort at Southwell last time, so he’s taken to get the better of Capla Spirit, who is turned out quickly after running well once more three days ago. Last-time-out winner Mostallim is also on the radar.

The bar isn’t set so high by those with experience in this novice event, so it could be worth taking a chance on likely-looking newcomer SHADES OF SUMMER, who is bred to make a useful sprinter and represents a yard that know how to get one ready first time. The market will obviously reveal more about her chances. No Guts No Glory who pushed another promising sort close on her debut at Southwell, so is feared most ahead of previous winner Annaf.
19:15 – Fonteyn
FONTEYN shaped well when runner-up over this course and distance in the autumn, beaten only by an improver from the Roger Varian yard, and can go one better on her return to action with Kevin Ryan among the winners. Power To Love showed a bit of promise on her recent debut and is put up for the forecast spot, although a strong market move for Roshni would potentially make her the most dangerous opponent.

AQUAMAS deserves a change of luck having run well to be placed on her last two starts and is fairly treated on her best form, so this could be the day she opens her account. Jems Bond is respected back in a handicap, with English Spirit another to consider, while Thaayer Fanzone would be interesting if strong in the betting.
20:15 – Gowanlad
GOWANLAD goes well over this course and distance and you can put a line through his latest start back at Newcastle where he didn’t get any cover on the flank and was also unsuited by a slowly-run race. There should be more pace on here and Gowanlad remains on a good mark. He is still relatively unexposed at this distance and is the type to quickly bounce back. Khabib and Blazing Hot have been in good form here this year and can given Phil Kirby’s charge most to do.
