17:20 Wolverhampton – Macs Dilemma

Macs Dilemma did manage to pop up here at 80/1 on his first try for the stable but has continued to run in solid form since, proving that it was no fluke. He had a fairly decent run round last time despite being forced wide in the straight and he also bumped into an in-form rival. Granted a slightly smoother passage now, he should get it done in the opener.

18:15 Newcastle – One Hart

One Hart was an expensive failure last time over this course and distance. Prior to that, he had been in fairly consistent fettle. Given it was a breakthrough season for the trainer Grant Tuer last year, he wouldn’t be backing him up just 17 days later if he didn’t feel they had got to the root of the problem. He is fully 16lb below his peak rating and will be taking advantage of that sooner rather than later.

19:30 Wolverhampton – El Hombre

El Hombre has become a little tricky to predict but there is no doubt that there’s still plenty of ability left in him. He gets one of the most in-form riders taking over in the saddle in Jason Watson and he’s been slightly unlucky on a few occasions recently. He represents fantastic each-way value, although he’ll be taking home all of the pie and not just a slice.

19:45 Newcastle – English Spirit

English Spirit has knocked loudly on the door since going handicapping over a variety of distances but looks to have landed in the right spot to get his excellent dual-purpose trainer Heather Main off the mark for the 2022 Flat season. The headgear has disappeared which looks the right move as he just ran a little keen early on in the blinkers at Kempton. He’s no superstar, but looks like taking advantage of a mark of 59.

20:15 Newcastle – Mister Bluebird

Mister Bluebird did well for the team last season, winning early on in April at Windsor and adding to that tally in September at Ffos Las. He will need a big effort from this mark in the mid-70s. However, the team are going to utilise the services of the excellent 5lb claimer Frederick Larson to ease that burden. That makes him look reasonably treated. He can bring up the double for Main who has made the long journey up from Kingston Lisle.

20:30 Wolverhampton – Stopnsearch

Stopnsearch has had one awayday to Yarmouth and one at Kempton but all of his other 17 races have either been at Lingfield or Windsor. He does like to drop in and pass rivals later on which should be suited to the finale here as they look to go on a strong early gallop to set it up nicely for him. He’s on a realistic mark with a quality pilot booked in Kieran Shoemark. So all is in place for a big effort.
