13:00 Jazz King
This is easier than the Ascot race in which Unanswered Prayers was a creditable fourth three weeks ago, and C&D winner Hecouldbetheone is capable of much better than he showed when well beaten in that race. However, they may both find it difficult to concede 12lb to JAZZ KING, who ran quite a bit better than his eventual 19l defeat might suggest in a competitive novices’ handicap at Lingfield in January. Super Duper Sam probably needs today’s step up in trip to unlock some improvement, but he also enters calculations in an interesting opener.

13:35 Ballinsker
He’s 0-7 over fences but this is a significant drop in grade for BALLINSKER, who will be very hard to beat if somewhere near the level of form he showed when second to a very useful mare at Warwick two starts ago. Uberman won on his chasing debut in December, but is likely to encounter much quicker ground here and a bigger threat to the selection may come from Bari Breeze, who was second off today’s mark over hurdles last month.
14:10 Kansas City Chief (NAP)
Sprightly veteran KANSAS CITY CHIEF (nap) has built up a good rapport with Victoria Malzard this season and the partnership can dictate from the front again here against rivals who all have something to prove. Go Millie Go hasn’t really got going this season, but she’s well handicapped judged on some of her novice form.
14:45 Blade Runner
It’s impossible to have confidence in any of these but one with significant potential is Irish point winner BLADE RUNNER, who showed enough in a novice hurdle here in January to make him of strong interest in this grade on his chasing debut. One For Dunstan, a course winner over hurdles, has an unconvincing record over fences but he’s interesting if judged on his Lingfield fourth in November. Abbey Street is next on the list.

15:20 On My Command
Both Sainte Doctor and Credo (preferred in that order) can go well but it’s hard to get away from ON MY COMMAND, who dominated a very similar race to this over C&D in December and can easily be excused her subsequent defeat in a hot race at Kempton.
15:55 Sami Bear
C&D winner Hackbridge confirmed his wellbeing with a recent Flat success and is respected, but this can go to SAMI BEAR. Chris Gordon’s 6yo paid the price for some sloppy jumping when a fading fifth behind Tara Iti here on his handicap debut in January, but he travelled well for a long way that day and can hopefully cut out the errors this time. Last-time-out C&D winner Global Wonder also enters calculations, while handicap-debutant Appreciate is one to watch in the betting.
