13:00 – Gareth Cael

Oliver Greenall’s horses are in fine form and a chance is taken on GARETH CAEL. He’s shown little on his three hurdle starts but won a point last May and now goes handicapping off a basement mark. Course winner Rickety Gate is feared most on the back of a fair third at Musselburgh, when shaping as though today’s return to a stiffer track would be in his favour. The Raven’s Return was runner-up at Huntingdon last time out and is next on the list, ahead of the unexposed Donald McCain runner Khamsin Moor.

13:35 – Your Own Story

There are some likeable prospects in this small field and preference is for two-time point winner YOUR OWN STORY, who was a close third at Ayr on his hurdle debut and for whom this step up in trip is likely to be a positive. Runaway Uttoxeter winner Barrowdale is second choice, ahead of Irish raider and fellow previous winner Silvertown.

14:10 – Royal Arcade (nap)

The step back up in trip could be just what the lightly raced ROYAL ARCADE (nap) needs, and he’s taken to add to last March’s novice hurdle win here. The mare Without Conviction retains potential and is next on the list ahead of last-time-out Kelso winner Upandatit.

14:45 – Maisiebella

Taragrace, Oot Ma Way and She’s A Rocca arrive on the back of really good runs but face different conditions today in terms of either ground or track, and it may pay to side with southern raider MAISIEBELLA. She’s well handicapped on the promise she showed in winter 2019-20 and may well have need last month’s run at Uttoxeter, when pulled up on her first start in just over two years. The unexposed Taragrace is feared most having won on her handicap debut at Doncaster.

15:20 – Ard Chros

The 10yo ARD CHROS struck form last month and is taken to land the hat-trick under a 7lb penalty for last Monday’s easy course win. Gemirande is Venetia Williams’ sole runner on the card and is the main danger having run well the last twice.

15:55 – Malpas

Barring a mishap, MALPAS should win this comfortably and add to last October’s C&D victory. Picking who will be second to the selection is the difficult bit, and perhaps Baron Briggs will tap into some of the potential in his pedigree on this second start. Lewa House is next on the list.

16:30 – Snowy Evening

Not untypically for a bumper, there are a few different ways into the race. Hard Iron, Maximilian and Western Walk are appealing types among the runners who already have bumper experience, while rules debutant SNOWY EVENING and well-bred newcomer Irene Goodnight are intriguing. The suggestion is six-figure purchase Snowy Evening, who will be all the more interesting if the market speaks favourably. Second choice is Hard Iron.
