Donald McCain’s Mackenberg is hunting a third win on the spin but he concedes 4lbs to Cornerstone Land, who is officially rated 9lbs higher, in the Class 3 Novices’ Chase at Catterick at 1.30pm. The theme of small fields continue at the day’s other National Hunt meeting at Leicester.

Elsewhere, Mehmento and Judicial both won Listed contests last year and their pair face two other rivals in the Class 3 Conditions Stakes on the all-weather track at Newcastle.
