WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS!

16:50 – El Jad

EL JAD remains a maiden, but he has only had five starts, and he ran at least as well as ever fitted with a first-time visor in a minor event at Wolverhampton last time. The winner that day is potentially smart and El Jad left the impression he was in need of a stiffer test, so the step back up in trip will be in his favour now, as will the stiffer finish at this track. Back in a handicap now, too, he has a big chance. Colinton made it three wins from his last four starts over course and distance last time so is feared most.

17:20 – Broken Rifle

BROKEN RIFLE is now on his third yard and has only recorded one win in 30 starts, but he is threatening to come good having finished in the money on his last three starts. He has raced predominantly at Wolverhampton of late, but a switch to this more galloping track which will give him more time to find his stride may help, and he is on a mark he can win from. Termonator and Libby Ami are a couple of the others with solid claims in an open race.

17:55 – Purple Power

PURPLE POWER made an encouraging start for the upwardly-mobile George Boughey when runner-up over six furlongs at this course in a first-time tongue tie last week and could prove hard to beat if building on that as expected. She conceded first run on the winner that day and her rider dropped his whip just as Purple Power was beginning to make her move, so there is reason to think she can go close with the return to seven furlongs also in her favour. Viva Voce, who arrives in good form, is another to consider.

18:30 – Millionaire Waltz

MILLIONAIRE WALTZ rattled off a quick-fire hat-trick shortly after joining this yard towards the end of last year and left the impression he is still on a good mark when runner up back here two weeks ago. He was well backed on that occasion but narrowly lost out to an in-form sort who also goes particularly well here, and the manner in which he kept on inside the final furlong suggests he is well worth trying at a mile. War Defender, who made all over C&D in January, should put up another bold showing.

19:00 – Judical

JUDICIAL is only just entitled to beat Venturous on these terms, but a line can be drawn through his latest run where he was too free and left poorly placed, and he’ll prove hard to beat if able to bounce back following a wind operation. Julie Camacho’s charge landed the Group 3 Chipchase Stakes on his sole previous visit here in 2020 and showed at Lingfield in November he is still capable of producing smart form. Venturous is the clear main danger, but unexposed filly Ex Gratia shouldn’t be underestimated, either.

19:30 – Ginato

The vote goes to GINATO, who pulled nicely clear of the rest when failing by a whisker over course and distance on his penultimate start, and a reproduction of that effort would give him every chance. One Hart hasn’t got his head in front for a while, but he has to be feared having finished a close-up third off this mark here 10 days ago.
