WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS!

13:50 – SALIGO BAY

SALIGO BAY was a fairly useful winner on the Flat for Roger Charlton and was purchased by these connections for 52,000 guineas. He shaped with encouragement on his debut over hurdles at Newbury earlier this month, ridden patiently but staying on well in the closing stages. He will have likely learnt plenty for that experience and this race doesn’t look as deep, so he is expected to build on that now and come out on top. High Tech looks sure to win a race in this sphere before long so can pose the biggest threat.

14:25 – LEN BRENNAN

Milton Harris is enjoying an excellent season and LEN BRENNAN looks very interesting having his first start for the yard. He is yet to win over fences, but has been competitive from much higher marks than this in the pace, and the addition of first-time cheekpieces looks an interesting move. The market will likely reveal more but he looks to have been found a good opportunity here. Lilith deserves to get her head in front and should give it another good go.

15:00 – MALINAS ISLAND

MALINAS ISLAND has improved since going down the handicap route, making it two wins from his last three starts when accounting for 17 rivals over this trip at Wetherby last month. He was well backed to do so, too, winning with plenty in hand, and he is strongly fancied to keep the good run going following another 6 lb in the weights. He may have most to fear from Tiny Tantrum, for whom the fitting of blinkers didn’t work so well at Fakenham recently but he can be expected to bounce back now re-fitted with the visor.

15:35 – MINELLA HUB

A competitive heat but the one likely ahead of his mark is MINELLA HUB, who stormed clear of his rivals switched to fences on handicap debut over course and distance four weeks ago. He raced prominently and took the race by the scruff of the neck between the final two fences, easily asserting and staying on strongly to the line. The handicapper has raised him 7 lb for that success, but that looks lenient, and he is very much unexposed as a chaser. Flaminger lurks on a very dangerous mark and shaped better here last time, so is also of interest.

16:10 – ROCK ON RITA

ROCK ON RITA defeated useful mare West Balboa – finished runner-up to Stage Star in the Challow – on her sole start in points and landed a gamble over this trip at Ffos Las last time in convincing fashion. She looked well ahead of her mark on that occasion, doing everything easily, and should have much more to offer now she is up and running. A subsequent 8 lb rise shouldn’t pose a problem if in the same form and is strongly fancied to follow up. Catch Me Not’s opening mark doesn’t look too severe and she may prove best of the rest.

16:45 – KALEB

KALEB makes appeal on paper and gets a tentative vote to make a winning debut, with confidence increased should the betting vibes be strong. Ebonello would be a strong opponent if showing up here rather than at Hereford. Forest Jump should appreciate the return to this trip, while Mistral Lady and Girlofmydreams would also enter the reckoning should the betting speak in their favour.
