16:45 – FOSSOS

Not a race to be getting heavily involved in. Peachey Carnehan and Royal Heart are possibles, while Thursday’s Southwell winner Intervention needs serious consideration, but at the likely odds it might be worth taking a punt on FOSSOS. He is of interest on his best form for previous connections and although ultimately well beaten on last month’s stable debut, he showed up for a long way before his stamina deficiencies kicked in over 7f.

17:15 – TWENTYSHARESOFGREY

Country Charm appeals as the type to come good for her new yard sooner rather than later, while Barrington and Glorious Charmer can’t be discounted despite lengthy losing runs. TWENTYSHARESOFGREY won well at Southwell three weeks ago though and she can make light of her 5lb hike in the weights.

17:45 – SEA FORMULA

It’s hard to rule out many of these but the one that appeals most is the well-bred SEA FORMULA, who was only narrowly denied over C&D on her handicap debut last month and is open to more progress. Cicely beat the selection here four weeks ago and she’s respected, along with Midgetonamission. Away Wit Da Fairys has each-way claims again, while another to keep an eye on is Roger Varian’s handicap newcomer Silver Vision.

18:15 – GOBI SUNSET

Tommy Taylor is respected on his recent Newcastle form but he is having his first run here and perhaps GOBI SUNSET will repeat the pattern of last year when he returned from lesser efforts before a break to run some fine races over C&D. Amber Island has been kept away from Tapeta for over a year but is weighted to go well if repeating this winter’s 7f form on Polytrack. Sharib and Arcadian Nights are worth a market check on their debuts for new yards.

18:45 – ROBERT WALPOLE

Interesting that connections have persevered with ROBERT WALPOLE despite the layoffs and he is given a tentative vote on his handicap debut for a yard that is having a good year with older horses. Across The Nile has hinted she may be able to do better yet now back in a handicap and can prove the main danger, although in-form Coase ran a cracker at Newcastle last night.

19:15 – VOLTAIC

Amateur jockeys’ races are not necessarily the most reliable form guides but VOLTAIC did impress when winning over C&D this month and confirmed himself in excellent form when runner-up over 6f the following day. He should be good for another win, although Pope Gregory has a good mark to exploit for his new yard and could prove dangerous. Dark Company is next on the list ahead of Lednikov.

19:45 – SUBJECTIVE VALUE

City Runner won well on his AW debut and could improve again with this greater emphasis on stamina, while Havana Goldrush still isn’t fully exposed and Bastogne may have more to offer over 1m+. SUBJECTIVE VALUE (nap) still appeals as being nicely ahead of his mark though and stepping back up in distance can see him gain a second success.

20:15 – MISS MESSENGER

The leading contender is MISS MESSENGER, who sets a clear standard on her recent debut second at Kempton and is open to progress on this step up in trip. After Eight made a promising start at Lingfield and he’s feared most, though Richard Hannon’s newcomer Mugader has a striking pedigree and needs a close look in the market. Another who could get involved is Jennys Jack Daniel who made some late headway at Newcastle ten days ago and looks a likely improver.
