The most striking contender is prolific Tapeta winner STREET POET, who is well handicapped on his best form last spring and was a good second behind an improver at Chelmsford last week. Amelia R returned from a break with a promising run here last month and she’s feared most on her drop back in trip, though Enderman is on a workable mark and needs watching in the market on his reappearance.
If allowed his own way in front Thaayer could take a bit of catching and, despite his moderate strike-rate, Intervention is performing well enough to figure. Bobby Joe Leg knows how to win, but the vote goes to MAGIC GEM despite the rise in grade. His latest second here has been boosted in the meantime and the return to 7f shouldn’t be an issue.
This can go to the William Haggas-trained CRIOLLO, who built on her promising debut effort when landing the odds at Lingfield last month and has plenty of scope for further progress. Most of the others have a lot to find with the selection and the main threat could come from the well-bred newcomer Naadyaa, who is a half-sister to six winners.
If building on his recent third over C&D Cloch Nua should be bang there, while Ebtsama is respected having come up against some smart rivals in her two starts last year. However, it may be worth taking a chance with the nicely bred newcomer ALDHAJA whose stable has done so well here since the Tapeta was laid.

Karl Burke appears to hold a strong hand here. Shallow Hal is competing in a lower grade than usual but preference is for stablemate TIPPERARY TIGER (nap) who comes into this 2-2 over C&D and was only just denied at Chelmsford last time. Patsy Fagan is also 2-2 over C&D and holds solid claims despite the rise in grade.
Top of the list is Mick Appleby’s NIGHT ON EARTH, who is a dual Tapeta winner and was runner-up behind a major improver in a Class 2 event at Wolverhampton two weeks ago. The main danger is the lightly raced 4yo Lazyitis, who has won two of her last three starts and is open to more progress. Third choice is six-time AW winner Dark Side Prince, who has finished placed in his last two runs and should give it another good shot on his drop back in grade.
Papas Girl finished ahead of MANSFIELD and Arzaak over C&D last time but she needs things to go her way, which they didn’t in two of her four runs here this year, and perhaps Mansfield will be able to turn the tables. He was having his first experience of the surface when coming home strongly to dead-heat for third with Arzaak and Jamie Spencer takes over in the saddle.
Catbird Seat and Danni California arrive in good form and, along with recent C&D winner Soaring Star, should be on the premises, but two unexposed runners stand out. Chase The Dollar is opposed with trepidation after a runaway success here 11 days ago but slight preference is for MAHARASHTRA whose latest second over C&D has already been franked.
