A 5f handicap to open the card and four of the nine runners ran here on Wednesday with Pillar finishing second over the 6f trip then – get caught late on. A good draw in stall one should see him go close. However, INISHMOT PRINCE was ridden by a 10lb claimer on Wednesday but now gets the services of reigning Irish champion jockey, Colin Keane. He was a head and a nose behind Pillar, is lightly-raced and will be suited by the likely strong pace.
This doesn’t look like a particularly strong maiden and Johnny Murtagh’s ANGEL GIRL who could hold the key. She was fourth on debut behind the favourite National Gallery when a 33/1 shot early last month and should come on for that run. Hypernova was just ahead of her but that was her third run so Angel Girl should be open to more improvement. She’s drawn a little inside Hypernova too this time in stall 10 and could be the one to beat.

JUNO BEACH put in a good run here on Wednesday behind Daintree when only really getting going towards the end of a 5f contest. He steps up to 6f now and an opening mark of 65 in a handicap looks within his compass. Keep an eye on how Hypernova runs in the 5pm as he was just a length and a half off her on Wednesday. Juno Beach raced off level weights with Sosallycanwait on Wednesday, but gets 5lbs off her now and has a good draw in stall three. Everything looks in his favour and he’s my best bet on the night.
A really trappy three-years-old only race over 10 f where a number of these have been running over different distances at this venue from 6f to a mile. Those in good form aren’t necessarily the ones who are going to see out this trip as they don’t appear to be bred for the job so I’ll take a punt on BUENAVENTURA who despite the lay-off could be the one to beat.
Paddy’s paying four places in the mile handicap where Wychwood Whisper has had a Christmas break and should go well for Mick Halford. However, REVERBERATION was a big gamble last time when just chinned in a seven-furlong contest when just getting going to late. He’s a dual winner at the track and can go one place better now under Kevin Manning for JJ Lambe.

Given there’s 4 places on offer we’ll look for a bit of value with the top-weight COURT OF APPEAL. He ran really well at Leopardstown during the summer but lost his form for a bit, so his handicap mark has dropped. There’s not too many in this race I could make a case for and he could be well handicapped against some exposed rivals.
The course winner ACQUIESCENT is very effective over the long sprint distance of 7f and his run two starts back behind subsequent winner Business carries plenty of appeal. Colin Keane takes the ride, knows him very well and he should be hard to beat from stall two. He is closely matched on form with Stellar Spirit but that one seems to lack a bit of resolution in the finish at times.
