WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS!

13:50 –  CAPLA SPIRIT

A competitive opener in which CAPLA SPIRIT is taken to snap a lengthy losing sequence now down to a career-low mark. The usual blinkers go back on and Gay Kelleway’s charge looks set to go well. Strike Me A Pose is sure to be popular after his recent success at Wolverhampton so he’s second choice, ahead of Mayelf, who is proving expensive to follow and first-time cheekpieces go on today.

14:20 – ANOTHER BERTIE

ANOTHER BERTIE came good over 6f here for Nigel Tinkler at the beginning of the month and might be capable of following up off 3 lb higher for new trainer Derek Shaw. Arkid will be a threat if shrugging off a lesser run over 6f last time. Heers Harry was placed off a similar mark at Lingfield last month and also makes the shortlist.

14:50 – FINE WINE

Following a C&D win last month, FINE WINE gave another really good account of himself from the front at Newcastle last week, and in his current mood, he looks the way to go. Night Narcissus had a clear excuse when last seen and she remains of serious interest at this level, with Airshow likely to give it another good shot.

15:20 – THE DANCING POET

THE DANCING POET returned from a break in top form, run out of it late at Newcastle 17 days ago, and he’s an appealing candidate from the same mark. Flying Instructor is a last-time-out winner making his handicap debut so he commands respect, with Chase The Dollar also of interest.

15:50- PADDY ELLIOT

PADDY ELLIOTT shaped as if worth a try at this trip here last month so is taken to finally open his account from a tumbling mark. So Macho is another who is becoming well treated so also needs considering fitted with headgear. Codebook is best of the others.

16:20 – INTUITIVE

INTUITIVE was close to his best when winning a similar event at Lingfield in November and with this long straight sure to play to his strengths, Simon & Ed Crisford’s charge gets the vote to score again. Tempus added to his impressive strike rate when winning at Newcastle on yard debut/return 6 weeks ago so he’s fancied to feature, along with My Oberon, who has his first start on the all-weather.

16:50 – CIANCIANA

CIANCIANA has made a solid start in handicaps in recent months and might be the way to go in this finale, although a strong market move for handicap-newcomers Punda Maria and/or Mekbat would put a slightly different slant on things.
