An interesting weekend on the French Riviera sees two Listed races take place at the glorious racecourse of Cagnes-Sur-Mer. Big fields and plenty of un-exposed types make things a little difficult from a punting perspective, but the feature race is where we find my NAP of the day.
A return to action by some of the familiar names in the weighroom means that we should enjoy a good day’s racing, with the likes of Theo Bachelot, Mamime Guyon and Christophe Soumillon all with full books of rides.
Supplemented for this race by his shrewd trainer, Jerome Renyier, the seven-year-old INTERIEUR looks well weighted to bag this wide-open claimer. His capable young jockey Leonie Rousset claims 3.5kgs off the gelding and as a result he only carries 52 kg, leaving him exceptionally well placed compared to his main rivals.
A sub-standard run last time out can easily be forgiven, as Inferior boasts some solid course form in the past, which is very applicable at Cagnes-Sur-Mer. Drawn in stall five he should not be too far away from the early pace and if running to his official mark, I think Inferior could be very interesting at the prices.

A maiden winner at this track three weeks ago, the Henri-Alex Pantall-trained INDIAN WISH looked very much a horse to follow when demolishing her rivals over course and distance. The daughter of The Grey Gatsby put in a blistering final 200m and, although that form is difficult to weigh up for the moment, she has put in some decent efforts on her first two career starts.
The switch to Polytrack looks to have made a huge difference last time out and this filly could well be the one to side with, in what looks a wide-open Listed race. Handed a big rating by the handicapper following that success, connections decided to swerve an entry last week and instead have gone on the search for some black-type here. It is difficult to see her out of the first three and certainly could be a horse to follow through the spring, especially in slowly run races as she has a huge turn of foot.
Ten-time champion jockey Christophe Soumillon, declared at the start of the year that an 11th title was his objective for the season. The Belgian born superstar has some interesting rides this Sunday, but none more so than PRETTY TIGER in the feature race of the afternoon, the Listed Grand Prix de la Riviera.
Trained by controversial trainer, Fabrice Vermulen, who currently leads the trainer’s championship, Pretty Tiger holds very solid form and performed with merit at a higher-grade last term. He was only just touched off in a Group Two contest at Deauville and that form is easily the best on offer amongst the nine-declared runners.
The free going four-year-old can continue his 100% record at the track and searches for a third victory at Cagnes-Sur-Mer. Strictly on form figures he is the one to beat and with sights surely set on some bigger group race targets during the summer, connections will be hopeful that Pretty Tiger can collect here. He looks a solid NAP of the day, for a hugely in-form team.
