WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS!

13:10 – GLOBAL FAMENGLORY

Global Famenglory showed some promise in bumpers and she did the same on her debut over hurdles at Huntingdon in November, keeping on nicely under a hands-and-heels ride in second behind the comfortable winner. Global Famenglory also had to settle for second at Doncaster last time, but she produced a much better effort on Timeform’s figures, finding only a useful prospect too strong. She remains open to improvement and goes handicapping from a fair-looking opening mark so is worth siding with.

13:45 – BANGERS AND CASH

Bangers And Cash made a successful start over fences at Taunton in December and he can defy a 4 lb higher mark here. The form Bangers And Cash showed at Taunton was a step up on what he had achieved over hurdles and he is entitled to carry on improving over fences. This slightly longer trip also promises to suit based on the strength he showed in the finish on his chasing debut.

14:20 – CAP ST VINCENT

Cap St Vincent won four times over fences for Tim Vaughan, showing fairly useful form, and that experience can stand him in good stead in this novice hurdle. Since he was last seen he has been given a wind operation and has joined Fergal O’Brien, so he can take advantage of this nice opportunity on his first start since March.

14:55 – ELIXIR DE NUTZ

Elixir de Nutz – a smart hurdler at his best – was underwhelming on his first couple of starts over fences but he showed a lot more when runner-up at Exeter in December, going down by just a nose after he was collared on the line. Elixir de Nutz gained compensation at Plumpton a month later, just holding on to land a novice chase by three-quarters of a length after tying up on the run-in, and it’s worth noting that the win came at a time when the Colin Tizzard yard was struggling. The trainer’s runners have been going better of late and Elixir de Nutz is worth siding with off what appears to be a fair mark on his handicap chase debut.

15:30 – GETTHEPOT

In the expected absence of Judex Lefou, who had a hard race when finishing runner-up in a handicap chase at Huntingdon on Thursday, the one to side with could be Getthepot. Getthepot hasn’t been at his best in three starts since returning from his summer break, but he hasn’t been seen to best effect in races run at just modest gallops. The handicapper has started to offer some respite and Getthepot looks fairly treated now that he’s only 6 lb higher than the mark he bolted up from at Ayr in May.

16:05 – SMARTY WILD

Smarty Wild shaped as if the three-mile trip stretched his stamina at Ludlow on his penultimate start but he saw things out better when runner-up over this course and distance last month, and he may well have won had he not made a mistake at the last with the race still in the balance. That enhanced Smarty Wild’s excellent record here – he has won and twice been placed from three starts over fences at this track – and he looks set to launch another bold bid.

16:37 – ABINGWORTH

Abingworth offered plenty of encouragement when runner-up on his debut in a junior bumper at Huntingdon in November and he could take a big step forward with that run under his belt. Abingworth showed clear signs of inexperience, running green when coming off the bridle, but he finished to good effect, leaving the impression he would improve for the experience. The step up in trip also promises to suit based on his strength at the finish there, while the fact he is out of a listed-winning mare also offers hope that there is better to come.
