16:00 – FIRST BLOOD
First Blood did us a favour a few weeks ago and still looks open to improvement. Joseph O’Brien’s runner went up 6lb for that win but Hugh Horgan claims 7lb off him. That win came after a five-month layoff so no reason why he shouldn’t improve. He’s a good draw in stall 1 and can sit off the pace and pounce late. He’s my best bet on the card.

16:30 – ELZAAMSAN
Elzaamsan was a beaten favourite the last two times he’s run but looked to be beaten by a really in form strong stayer in Seattle Creek last time. This 1m 4f contest is not as strong and with a good draw in stall 6 should just be able to sit behind the pace. Don’t Be Angry and Douglas Dic look the main dangers.
17:00 – KINGSLAYER
Andrew McNamara’s runner was a ready winner here two starts back and can be dangerous again stepping up in distance to 1m 4f. Fox Leicester won over 1m 2f last time after some good runs and has gone up 6lbs in the weights for that, but he’s not guaranteed to stay the extra two furlongs. Made for Minds was a winner at the Curragh last Autumn and could be interesting if you ignore a poor run over hurdles at Christmas. By a process of elimination, I’ll side with Kingslayer.

17:30 – TWO SOCKS
She caused a massive shock after winning at 66/1 last week. Two Socks turns out quite quickly which is a worry but could have too much in hand for Singsong Lady who herself was a shock winner of 7f last time. I’m not sure the step up to one mile will suit her though. Ger Lyons introduces a newcomer in Jezebel Queen and any support should be noted but she may come on for the run.

18:00 – CATENA ZAPATA
An ultra-competitive 1m handicap and Henry de Bromhead’s runner Catena Zapata can register her first win since December 2020 when triumphing over course and distance. He subsequently ran third in a winners race here before switching to the third. He’s 7lb lower than his last win at this track and that can give him the edge of some rivals who look in the grip of the handicapper.
18:30 – FIVE ZEROS
The five-year-old is interesting in this apprentice handicap dropping back to 7f. He showed little in three maiden races over a mile but returned after an 18-month absence to finish second last time. He’s one to keep on the right side and should be finishing strong at the end.

19:00 – SONDHEIM
Sondheim has finished runner up on his last two starts, running into a couple of improvers both times. He travels strongly in his races so a stall one draw will help him get settled into a nice rhythm. Inductive has been dropping down the weights recently but slow starts from the gate won’t make his life any easier while Maccliff should race prominently from the front but could get picked off late on.
19:30 – A CASE OF YOU
A cracking race to end the card with Logo Hunter and A Case of You going head-to-head. Logo Hunter is all speed and may be better suited to the minimum 5f trip whereas A Case of You is a course and distance winner who can use this contest a steppingstone to better things again this win after his Group 1 Prix de l’Abbaye win at Longchamp last October.
