Don’t know what a NAPs table is? We’ll tell you! It’s an independently run competition involving the cream of the British and Irish racing press whose positions in the table are based on their profits to Level Stakes. And just like all sports competitions worldwide, those doing best are towards the top of the table.
So, we decided to put that golden guide to the test and use it to steer you towards what could be a savvy Lucky 15 (4 horses, 15 bets). The four you’ll see below are the selections of some of the top-performing tipsters in the table. Let’s get to the bets…
The two likely principals have form which ties in with the high-class Concertista. That mare’s stablemate DOLCITA has been nursed back to form since her return to the Mullins team and can take the measure of Darrens Hope. Best of the others may be Fort Worth Texas if near to a peak of form on her comeback.
There should still be improvement to come from the juvenile hurdlers Meritorious and PATIENT DREAM judged on their Flat form. Slight preference is for the latter. Port Or Starboard (third choice) has to concede 12lb to those younger rivals but he warrants respect as a solid type, while Red Vision needs a close look on his debut for Donald McCain.
A tightly knit handicap hurdle can go to topweight SAINTE DOCTOR who gives the impression there’s better to come over today’s longer trip. Well Educated, another lightly raced 6yo, failed to deliver when favourite last time but still has untapped potential and may prove the main threat, ahead of recent C&D winner Thirtyfourstitches and track regular Tiny Tantrum.
Trapista still has significant potential but her finishing effort at Cheltenham in December was rather tame and preference is for C&D winner BELLATRIXSA, who may not have been ideally suited by the soft ground when second at Chepstow last month, after a break, and might well come on for the run. Aggy With It should also be suited by today’s switch back to a quicker surface and is next on the list.
