Adams Barbour was a ready winner at this track on Wednesday afternoon and has backed up a win like that before in a similar timescale. Chris Hayes takes the ride and the drop back to 5f won’t be an issue as he won over this trip last month also. He should take a bit of beating if lining up. The alternative may be Queen’s Carriage.
Just 11 runners are declared, including last-time out winners in Dare to Flare and Angel in the Sky. A competitive heat where German-import Dartan looks the dark horse in the field. He ran really well in two maiden hurdles for Matthew Smith and steps onto the all-weather for the first time. Smith has had a few German imports win at Dundalk and this can be another.
It’s hard to look past Luke Comer’s Dr Patrick who was a taking winner last time. He beat subsequent winner Arctic Blaze (who is declared for the 5.30pm) and while he’s up 7lbs for that win, he’s lightly enough race to still have improvement in him.
If you check the result of the 5pm first it should give us a better read on the chance of Artic Blaze. He was second to Dr Patrick on his second-last start before scoring at this venue a fortnight later. He’s up 10lb in the weights but trainer John McConnell’s son, Cillian, claims 10lb here. One that’s a bit of value though is Shore. He was third in a claiming race on well at level weights against horses rated in the 70’s. He was well backed that day, has run well in handicaps before and can go close now.
John McConnell is one of the leading trainers at the track and The Pargey Bee ran really well on his first handicap start last time after showing little in maidens. If he’s come forward from that run with just a 1lb rise he can go close from stall six.
We could get lucky here as two professional losers in Giuliana and Gold Wing both will be close to the top of the market but are unreliable. That leaves us with an opportunity to go for one a bigger price in Greek Opera who trialed well at this venue, for trainer James Nash. A good draw in stall two will help and she’s worth taking a chance on.

Mick Halford’s Havana Pearl stayed on really strongly last time over 7f when giving weight to her rivals. She should have learnt a lot form that experience and the step up to the mile now should suit. Silk Damask is a big player as is Dromore Glory who could be an each-way play.
Let’s hope we’ve had some success already on the night because the finale is an ultra-competitive mile handicap. Sincerest drops in grade while Royal Scholar is an improver but has to overcome a poor draw while No Show is another whose swimming in calmer waters. However, the top weight Liquid Luck did us a solid two runs ago and got trapped wide last time. He’s in stall four this time and the likely fast pace will play to his strengths also.
