13:10 – Alcala
A match between two 12yos whose very best days are behind them. West Approach has a gilt-edged opportunity to snap a losing sequence in receipt of 8lb but ALCALA‘s more impressive strike-rate tilts the balance in his favour.

13:40 – Red Royalist
Champagne Court can be expected to give another solid account of himself but the verdict goes to RED ROYALIST, who could be leniently treated at the foot of the weights if building on his reappearance run. Press Your Luck should find today’s opposition less taxing than in the Lanzarote and could have a say as well.
14:10 – Siroco Jo
The Paul Nicholls-trained SIROCO JO won two of his six hurdle starts and this 5yo is taken to make a winning start over fences against rivals who all have something to prove. Benny’s Bridge may pose the chief threat if bouncing back from Newbury.
14:40 – Plenty Of Time
The well-bred point winner PLENTY OF TIME shaped nicely when second on this course last week, and with improvement on the cards she can go one better. Petticoat Lucy (second choice) and Barford Diva, first and third here on Boxing Day, may pose the main threats, although a market move for the hurdling debutante Mansoline would be noteworthy.

15:10 – Honneur DAjonc
Thanksforthehelp has plenty of long-term potential but the penalised HONNEUR D’AJONC is streetwise and proven under these conditions, factors that sway the vote in his favour on this occasion. Future Investment will be a danger to both if he’s learnt from the experience of his C&D hurdling debut.
15:40 – Frere Darmes
The Dan Skelton-trained FRERE D’ARMES easily made all at Huntingdon last month on his second hurdle start and should be tough to beat under his 6lb penalty. Madiba Passion is running for the first time since November 2019 but could nevertheless pose the main threat having shown promise back then. Useful Flat performer Kolisi is one to keep an eye on in the betting in a first-time tongue-tie, although he’s struggled on his first three hurdle starts.

16:10 – El Paso Wood
Six-time French winner EL PASO WOOD (nap) has gone up 10lb for his recent course win but he did it so easily that he could still be ahead of the handicapper. Jeremy Pass has made a very solid start to his chasing career this season and is second choice, while Rapper is another who could have more to offer.
16:40 – Treyarnon Bay
Quite a few of these fit the bill on paper. The pick of those with rules experience may be Parkin Fine who can be expected to improve on the form of her Warwick debut three months ago. Dollar Bae, Fishcake and Perculator all represent yards that do well in this sphere, but it could be worth chancing the 4yo TREYARNON BAY, whose Flat stable has the odd bumper winner and whose pedigree suggests she’ll cope well with a relative test of speed.
