13:10 – Free Nelson

Perhaps the safest choice is FREE NELSON who has the merit of being a relatively unexposed type from a top stable. The veteran Spare Brakes has plenty going for him with 7lb claimed off a low weight. On the basis of official ratings and overall career profile Sevenna Star and Prospectus have strong claims, but there are significant doubts attached in both cases.

13:40 – Earths Furies

A course winner over fences on the first of two outings at the Christmas fixtures, EARTHS FURIES may be capable of improving on previous hurdles form. Long-priced C&D scorer Donnrua Dream could go well again off a 9lb higher mark. Be My Dream, who has run well in the past at this venue, managed a good effort on a recent chase outing. Ballyegan Park is possibly on a fair mark for his first handicap.

14:10 – Feyan

Robert Tyner can keep up the good work with FEYAN (nap), a wide-margin chase winner at Punchestown last month. Another last-time-out winner Missie could be in the mix again. Golden Glen has a modest strike-rate but is worth considering following a Tramore placing. Old Soul is relatively unexposed and may improve.

14:40 – La Prima Donna

Willie Mullins has a strong hand here and LA PRIMA DONNA is tipped to uphold Clonmel form with her older stablemate Mi Lighthouse. Pick of the remainder are Moon Eagle and Our Miss Power.

15:10 – State Man

One of the best backed horses on St Stephen’s Day, STATE MAN should be a steering job if over his fall in a maiden hurdle at Leopardstown. A clear round should see him collect with Bugs Moran and True Faith best placed to pick up the pieces in behind the likely short-priced favourite.

15:40 – Sienne Dor

SIENNE D’OR did it nicely at Clonmel and, while she is 6lb higher here, Richie Condon takes 4lb off and she has a favourite’s chance. Springfield Lodge is much lower over hurdles than he is over fences and might have an each-way squeak.

16:10 – Grey Bear

Fair Minded is likely to head the betting but she is a bit soft and will need a good ride if she’s going to win. With that in mind, it could be worth taking a chance on handicap debutant GREY BEAR and any money floating around for him would need to be taken seriously given he represents such a shrewd outfit. Derridae is another to consider while Hide Out isn’t out of it.

16:40 – Saylavee

Hard to look beyond SAYLAVEE on debut for the champion trainer. Her Tipperary second was a good run and, with improvement likely, she should have too much for Any Biscuits and Black Bamboo.
