Eklat De Rire

Trainer: Henry de Bromhead Jockey: Rachael Blackmore Age: 8 Weight: 11st 4lbs

Smart form. Won Wexford listed in October. Found out by lack of experience when pulled up in Ladbrokes Trophy at Newbury since. Retains potential.

28/1, 29½ lengths seventh of 8 to Galvin in Savills Chase at Leopardstown (24f, soft) 30 days ago. Stable in good form. Makes handicap chase debut. Enters calculations.

Escaria Ten

Trainer: Gordon Elliott Jockey: Davy Russell Age: 7 Weight: 10st 11lbs

C&D winner. 12/1, pulled up in handicap chase at Leopardstown (24.2f, soft) 31 days ago but the fact he won this last year makes him a dangerous one to discount.

12/1, 6 lengths third of 5 to Mount Ida in Grade 3 mares event at Fairyhouse (21.5f, soft) 26 days ago. Respected back in a handicap.

Pulled up in handicap chase at Leopardstown (24.2f, soft, 14/1) 31 days ago, pulled up before eighth. Blinkers on 1st time, tongue strap on 1st time. Others have achieved more.

Braeside

Trainer: Gordon Elliott Jockey: J. W. Kennedy Age: 8 Weight: 10st 9lbs

Course winner. Fourth of 7 in minor event chase (22/1) at Ascot (21f, good to soft) 40 days ago. Cheekpieces on 1st time.

Six wins from 23 NH runs. 1 win from 3 runs this season. Career best when winning 11-runner handicap chase (10/1) at Fairyhouse (29f, good) 60 days ago, well on top finish.

Thyestes Chase Tips

Timeform: Gordon Elliott saddles 5 as he bids for a third Thyestes win since 2018 and ESCARIA TEN could be the one to provide it. He presumably found the Irish National coming too soon after his big effort at the Cheltenham Festival and appeals as the type who could resume his progress on his return. Mister Fogpatches has plenty of solid handicap form to his name and is feared most ahead of Braeside.

Racing Post: Overall trends and multiple representation point to the Mullins, Elliott and de Bromhead runners. However, Pat Fahy, who won this with Nuaffe in 1994, has a credible contender in MISTER FOGPATCHES, a consistent sort in valuable staying handicaps. Longhouse Poet has been the ante-post gamble and comes from the stable of the 2004 winner. Foxy Jacks has an each-way chance going right-handed here. Ontheropes may be the pick for Mullins who has won this in five of the last ten years, with Braeside and Eklat De Rire, most appealing of the runners from the two other powerhouse yards.
