PINKERTON had shown some promise at home before staying on nicely to win on debut for the Noel Meade team in a Down Royal bumper over Christmas. This looks a good opportunity for him to get off the mark on his first run over hurdles with the son of Ocovango looking a horse who should relish the uphill finish here and a strong gallop. The experienced John Cannon looks the biggest danger having previously won a bumper here before subsequently finishing placed twice over hurdles.
Jack Kennedy takes the ride on GERRI COLOMBE for the first time with the unbeaten Robcour runner looking a vastly improving individual. He showed signs of greenness when winning on his hurdling debut at Down Royal but jockey Denis O’Regan was impressed, suggesting this horse has “a bit of class and stays well.” Having won a Lingstown point-to-point for Colin Bowe, this Ballymore and Albert Barlett entry will only improve for the extra distance here to see off this opposition.
The Grade 2 Mares Novice Chase looks an open affair and it’s a shame we don’t have eight runners to a make it a good each-way contest. Having tipped up JEREMYS FLAME when winning at Naas earlier this month, I’m happy to stick with Gavin Cromwell’s mare again this Sunday. Her second to Concertista at Cork in December was good form and she certainly deserved to get her head in front last time out.
The daughter of Jeremy gets the vote to progress further with Minella Melody, Global Equity and Robinnia just a few heading the opposition. Henry de Bromhead’s mare makes her debut over fences with race fitness an obvious concern despite fine form over hurdles. Robinnia fell at the first for the Willie Mullins team at Cork and looks the main danger with Global Equity dropping down in grade and Darrens Hope and Ballyshannon Rose not ruled out either.

ALLAHO will be a short-priced favourite for Willie Mullins and Paul Townend after his comeback victory in the John Durkan at Punchestown last month. Fakir D’oudairies has eight-lengths to make up with the 174 top rated eight-year-old which looks very unlikely bar an accident to the Closutton runner.
A second straight victory in this race is on the cards for the Cheveley Park owned runner before heading straight back to Cheltenham for a crack at another Ryanair Chase success. The younger legs of Fakir D’oudairies should see him chase home the favourite ahead of Gigginstown pair Battleoverdoyen and Notebook.

Several of these rivals know each-other extremely well with BILLAWAY previously getting the better of Winged Leader three times and Stand Up And Fight twice. The Willie Mullins runner is starting off his season a little late this season but should have enough class on return to score under Patrick Mullins. Winged Leader has race fitness after victory in Loughbrickland, but John Turner’s dual Foxhunter’s runner-up should prove good enough in a battle between the two in this closing finale.
