13:50 Lingfield – Le Ligerien
It’s a bit of a tricky race but I’m going to side with Le Ligerien. He was good a couple of season’s back and won twice in four days in January 2020 so I’m not worried he ran on heavy ground at Chepstow on January 6. Those wins over hurdles were off marks of 120 and 127. He lost his way a bit since then but bounced back at Chepstow, winning quite easily off a mark of 112. He’s gone up 5lbs for that win but he remains well treated. He jumped well at Chepstow and he’s a fairly good price.

*Market Rasen has been abandoned due to frost
I’m going with Ladykiller for David Pipe. He was very useful on the Flat and looked better over hurdles at Newbury over Christmas, where he finished third. There’s a bit of scope on his 109 rating and he should handle the ground too.
14:25 Lingfield – Top Ville Ben
If On The Blind Side runs anywhere near his best, he’ll win. He did well on testing ground at Market Rasen last year but I’m not sure that’s enough to win at Lingfield. Lingfield’s testing ground is similar to testing ground at Haydock. His price isn’t ideal considering he pulled up last time out. Calva DAuge for Paul Nicholls has been disappointing after we thought he was going to be top class. I’m going to take a chance on Top Ville Ben. The ground will suit him and he’ll probably fly out in front too. He’s a better chaser than hurdler but he ran well at Wetherby over Christmas. He’ll do me!

*14:40 Market Rasen – Hidden Beauty
I’m siding with Hidden Beauty. I thought she was very impressive at Ffos Las in November on soft ground. She was value for a lot further than she won by. She won without getting a crack of the whip. Hidden Beauty is a very nice horse so I’m pretty confident.
15:00 Lingfield – Broken Halo
I’m a fan of Fantastikas but I’m going to side with Broken Halo for Paul Nicholls. He got off the mark on his second start over hurdles at Wincanton and he was a close third at Chepstow at the beginning of December. That form looks solid now with Pats Fancy bolting up at Chepstow on December 27 ahead of Imperial Alcazar. Broken Halo won well last time out at Exeter on New Year’s Day and he’s a solid jumper. Stepping up in trip should suit him too.

15:35 Lingfield – Sevenna Star
It’s an interesting race that looks pretty open. Lucky Max, Metier and Carrarea are all interesting options, however, I have doubts whether Carrarea will handle the ground. I’m going to side with Emmet Mullins’ second string runner in Sevenna Star. He was useful on the Flat and he won the Derby Trial at Sandown. His mark demands a bit more as he’s rated 123 but Mike O’Connor takes off 5lbs. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him win this.
