13:25 Young Butler
Chepstow maiden hurdle winner YOUNG BUTLER had an excuse when pulled up on last month’s handicap debut at Ascot, where he was hampered at the first flight and reportedly never travelling thereafter, and he’s taken to defy a penalty today. Two-time Flat winner Tigerten could be a danger on his hurdle debut.

14:00 Dream In The Park
A race of ifs, as Mark Of Gold, Drag Race and Barest Of Margins (to name but three) could all step up on previous hurdling efforts if consenting to settle better this time round, whilst Ivy Avenue, Torbellino and DREAM IN THE PARK will appeal more if conditions dry out to any extent. The last-named’s two highly promising seconds in bumpers last autumn earn him a marginal vote of preference over Mark Of Gold.

Questions for all of these to answer, mostly regarding either recent form or the ability to defy their current marks. Top And Drop left everything on the course when obliging at Wetherby over Christmas and may yet prove vulnerable if this comes too soon, with one-time Sussex National second UALLRIGHTHARRY perhaps best placed to capitalise if his below-par Exeter run is forgiven. Cheque En Blanc, right back to his best in defeat last time, is next preferred.
15:10 Dynamite Kentucky (NAP)
This revolves around DYNAMITE KENTUCKY (nap), who won with something to spare in first-time blinkers at Exeter last Tuesday and escapes a penalty today. He’ll be tough to beat if the headgear works as well a second time. Lavorante, who was second to Jonbon in a 3m point, is an intriguing contender now up in distance on his handicap debut and he’s feared most, ahead of the consistent Henschke.

15:40 En Coeur
A frantic race in prospect, with potentially as many as four of these vying for the early lead. EN COEUR isn’t as well handicapped as some of those pace influences but his preference to chase rather than set a pace may prove a blessing, and previous C&D successes suggest he won’t mind how much the ground does or doesn’t dry. Cheshire raider Blueberry Wine has more upside than the selection as a chaser, but needs to help himself more going forward.
16:10 Zamani
The more conditions dry out the better for Dolly McQueen, pulled out of three engagements on softer than good either side of recording her recent brace in non-handicap sellers (one C&D). Sounder conditions would, however, also play into the hands of the well-handicapped ZAMANI, though last month’s Uttoxeter third won’t mind as much if any give remains underfoot. The long-absent Good Time Ahead, 10lb lower than when last seen, demands at least a market check.
