13:00 – Alberic
Alberic has been expensive to follow but has several placed efforts to his name and came home a long way clear of the rest when beaten half a length by Legal Rights at Hereford last week. Once again, Jack Martin takes 10 lb off his back in this conditional jockeys’ contest and, able to run off the same mark here, Philip Hobbs’ gelding is fancied to get his head in front for the first time.

13:30 – Frere d’Armes
Frere d’Armes, who’d been placed in Irish points, shaped most encouragingly on his Rules debut for Dan Skelton at Ludlow last month when well backed, finishing a long way clear of the rest whilst making the Nicky Henderson-trained odds-on favourite Balco Coastal work hard for his length and a quarter win. With the prospect of more to come, he will take some stopping in his bid to go one better.
14:00 – Our Power
It’s tough to rule out any of the four runners in this novices’ handicap chase but top weight Our Power, who had useful form over hurdles for Nigel Twiston-Davies, ran at least as well when scoring at the second attempt over fences at Wincanton last month. Sam Thomas’ charge is therefore taken to make amends for a first-fence spill at Doncaster three days ago.
14:30 – Kotmask
Four of the six runners in the highlight on the card, the Chatteris Fen Juvenile Hurdle, are winners. Gary Moore has another promising bunch of young hurdlers and his French import Kotmask very much falls into that category following his impressive Fontwell success on his British debut last month when winning by 12 lengths. There is more to come from him and he can win again.

15:00 – Hillfinch
Holly Hartingo and Russian Rumour are winners already in this sphere but this mares’ novices’ hurdle can go to Stewart Edmund’s hurdling debutant Hillfinch. A winner of a Market Rasen bumper in September, she bettered that form when third in a listed event here in December and, the type to make her mark over hurdles, she gets the narrow vote to come out on top.
15:30 – Loud As Lions
Tom Symonds’ Loud As Lions has been off for almost two years, but he showed big improvement on the back of a wind operation when making all over this course and distance when last seen and has since had another breathing operation. He has to give weight away all round but could be worth chancing off a similar mark in a handicap chase that’s lacking depth.

16:00 – Butch
There’s little to go on in this bumper for newcomers but, as a full brother to a couple of bumper winners, Olly Murphy’s Butch has the right kind of profile and gets the marginal vote over Nicky Henderson’s runner Propelled who also makes plenty of appeal on paper.
