12:40 – Guerlain De Vaux
GUERLAIN DE VAUX looked a useful prospect when making a winning hurdling debut at Market Rasen last month, staying on well to land the spoils by a length and a half. There should be better to come from him with that experience under his belt, particularly now stepping up in trip to three miles. He is fancied to defy a penalty to maintain his unbeaten record in this sphere.
13.10 – Tanora
TANORA produced a career best when filling the runner-up spot on her latest outing over this course and distance, showing the benefit of wind surgery since her previous start (also wore a first-time tongue strap). She was beaten a little over two lengths and looked unlucky not to finish closer still after conceding first run to the winner. Still relatively unexposed, Tanora should go well again here from just a 2 lb higher mark.

13:40 – No Cruise Yet
NO CRUISE YET continued the promising start he has made for this yard when finishing second over this course and distance two weeks ago, running at least as well in defeat as when winning at Sedgefield the time before. He is clearly very effective under these conditions, a thorough stayer who acts well on soft going, and the balance of his form suggests there are more races to be won with him from a BHA mark of 95.
14:10 – A Different Kind
A DIFFERENT KIND looked a fine prospect when maintaining his unbeaten record under Rules with a comfortable success at Haydock last month, just needing to be driven out to give weight and a one-length beating to Green Book. That rival gave the form a boost when winning his next two starts and it’s highly unlikely that we’ve seen the best of A Different Kind yet either. In a novice hurdle lacking depth, he probably won’t need to improve to extend his winning sequence to five.

14:40 – Sidi Ismael
SIDI ISMAEL took another step forward when completing a hat-trick at Market Rasen on Boxing Day, relishing the extra distance as he stayed on well to win by nearly four lengths. His strength at the finish suggests he won’t have any issue with this marathon trip, and it would be folly to rule out further progress given the blistering start he has made to life with this yard. This will be his toughest test yet from a BHA mark of 135, but he is fancied to prove equal to the challenge to make it four from four over fences.
15:10 – Art Of Diplomacy
ART OF DIPLOMACY made a winning debut for Dr Richard Newland at Ludlow in November, quickly asserting on the run-in to land the spoils by over four lengths. That success earned him an 8 lb rise in the weights and he went on to produce a career best in defeat when filling the runner-up spot at Hereford nine days ago, once again showing a good attitude to pass the post a little over a length behind the winner. He can race from the same mark here and another bold bid is expected provided this doesn’t come too soon.
15:40 – Pearl Warrior
PEARL WARRIOR found one too good on his handicap debut over hurdles at Market Rasen six weeks ago, leading for much of the race but unable to respond when challenged before the final flight. Still beaten only two and a half lengths, Pearl Warrior is fitted with cheekpieces today and that could give him the edge he needs to get off the mark over hurdles. It’s worth noting that he showed fairly useful form on the Flat in his prime and often when wearing headgear.
