Lanty Slea has shown a fair level of form in four starts over hurdles to date, producing his best effort when second in a novice at Kelso in May. He now makes the switch to handicaps and will command plenty of respect from an opening BHA mark of 107. That is unlikely to prove beyond him judged on the balance of his form and the fact Conor Rabbitt can claim 10-lb is also a big plus.
Salvino took a big step forward when second on his latest outing at Ayr, staying on well to pass the post a little over two lengths behind the winner. That form sets the standard in this line-up and it would be folly to rule out further progress after only two starts over hurdles. Therefore, he rates a confident selection to get off the mark at the third attempt.
Broadway Joe is improving in leaps and bounds, making it three from three over fences with an impressive victory over this course and distance two weeks ago. He is likely to have more to offer as a chaser and a 10 lb hike in the weights might not be enough to stop him here in conditions which clearly play to his strengths (beaten just once in four starts at Musselburgh).

Ultraviolet left the form of his hurdling debut behind when third in a juvenile maiden over this course and distance last time, disputing the lead until two out before being outpaced by the other principals. It’s still early days in his career and the form he showed on the Flat in France suggests he could prove a different proposition now making the switch to handicaps over jumps.
Eaglehill showed fairly useful form when making a successful reappearance at Fakenham in October, his third success from his last four starts. He was already looking the likeliest winner of that three-runner contest when left in front two out, eventually coming home eight lengths clear of his nearest rival. Eaglehill has a good record fresh, so his absence since then isn’t a concern. He is fancied to defy a further 2 lb rise in the weights to gain another win.
Holmes St Georges produced a promising first effort when fourth on his debut at Ballinrobe in May, faring best of the newcomers in the line-up (beaten a little over four lengths). He travelled as well as any and there should be plenty more to come with that experience under his belt. He can make the trip across the Irish Sea worthwhile here by opening his account at the second attempt.
