12:30 Jeremys Flame

JEREMYS FLAME gets the vote in the opening Beginners Chase at Naas on Sunday for Gavin Cromwell and Keith Donoghue. The daughter of Jeremy is a previous winner at this venue and has shown good form in her three runs this season. She finished a creditable second to Riviere D’etel on her reappearance at Fairyhouse in October before been placed again here in early November.

Her latest effort when only beaten a ½ length to Concertista at Cork reads extremely well with Willie Mullins’ mare enhancing the form with victory at Limerick earlier this week. It was encouraging to see the Cromwell yard come back into form with several winners this week and she should hold the form with Dolcita who should get a little closer for her comeback run in the same race in Mallow.

13:00 Blue Lord (NB)

BLUE LORD was impressive when winning on his chasing debut at Fairyhouse and can remain unbeaten over fences with victory in this 2m Novice Chase. Paul Townend should get a nice lead into the business end of this race from front runner Dancing On My Own who races here for Henry de Bromhead after victory at Killarney in October.

The Simon Munir and Isaac Souede selection was a classy horse over hurdles and was unlucky not to have finish second in the Supreme at Cheltenham following a fall at the last hurdle. He also produced smart runs behind Bob Olinger and Appreciate It last season and can progress in perhaps similar fashion to Footpad in novice chasing company this season for the same connections.

13:35 Fighting Fit

Seven of the previous ten winners of this 2m Handicap Chase carried under 11 stone to victory and FIGHTING FIT has a nice profile to go close here for JP McManus. The Philip Dempsey trained runner is 5Ibs better off with Arahecan having finished second to Henry de Bromhead’s runner at Fairyhouse earlier this month.

That effort was clearly a much-improved effort on his handicap debut having shown little on three previous starts over fences at both Galway and Punchestown. It’s interesting to note that a tongue-tie returns following its previous use when successful over hurdles at both Punchestown and Thurles. Elsewhere, Espion Du Chenet can be forgiven for a poor run at Aintree and could reach the places.

14:10 Ginto

Gordon Elliott has an excellent recent record in the feature Grade 1 Lawlor’s Of Naas Novice Hurdle and has another strong hand with Hollow Games and GINTO this year. The Bective Stud duo race here having both scored in graded races at Navan in late November and early December. A stronger gallop will suit Hollow Games with Davy Russell in the saddle once again following a slowly run affair when winning the Monksfield.

Churchstonewarrior, Grand Jury and Watdeawant are likely to look for cover which pushes me towards the chances of my selection. Despite jumping to his right on occasion, this horse looks an out and out galloper and could dominate from the front and keep finding at the business end under Jack Kennedy. His victory at Navan earlier this month has subsequently been enhanced in excellent fashion with both Mr Fred Rogers and Eric Bloodaxe winning at Thurles and Limerick.

14:45 Killer Mode (NAP)

It was great to see Noel Meade having several winners this week over Christmas and his KILLER MODE can continue the good run of the yard with victory in this 2m Maiden Hurdle. The Gigginstown runner was a very cosy winner of a bumper here earlier this month with his trainer reporting post-race that he had already schooled well and knows how to jump.

Another positive sign towards my nap selection is the previous record of the Meade team in this race having previously been successful with Art Of Security and Valdieu. Elsewhere, the opposition is headed by Bronn who previously won a Ballinrobe bumper for Stuart Crawford before been sold to Simon Munir and Isaac Souede and now racing under the care of Willie Mullins.

15:50 Fuoco

Design Flaw is the only runner with any form in the book following her sixth-placed finish for Ciaran Murphy at Newbury earlier this month. The rest is dominated by newcomers with FUOCO a tentative selection for Noel Meade and Neill Ryan. The daughter of Requinto is related to several winners including Crassus, while her young pilot is full of confidence at present following three winners from his last six rides in the past two-weeks.

Two of those winners came for Meade including debut bumper winner Pinkerton at Down Royal on St Stephens’ Day. Douglas Dc looks the obvious danger for Gordon Elliot with David Spratt’s runner having a nice flat pedigree and coming from the family of Gossamer and Barathea. Elsewhere, any market support for Sapporto Tower should be noted for trainer Harry Kelly who previously took this race with Aliym in 2019.
