PHOENIX STAR returned to form when filling the runner-up spot at Southwell last time, making good late headway to pass the post less than a length behind The Bell Conductor. That rival gave the form a boost when following up on his next start at the same course and Phoenix Star is only 1 lb higher in the weights here than he was at Southwell. A previous course-and-distance winner, he looks sure to give another good account.
12:55 Tipperary Tiger
TIPPERARY TIGER proved at least as good as ever when resuming winning ways at Southwell on Wednesday, looking well on top at the finish despite wandering under pressure. This will be tougher under a 5 lb penalty, but he is clearly going the right way at present, proving largely consistent since being fitted with a visor. Karl Burke has his team in top form at present (five winners from his last 13 runners) and Tipperary Tim seems sure to mount another bold bid.

GOOD EFFORT ran out an impressive winner when last seen at Lingfield in November, forging clear in the straight to land the spoils by over two lengths (had plenty in hand). That was the seventh success of his career on the all-weather and he is clearly a smart sprinter when getting his conditions. A narrow winner of this race back in 2020, he is fancied to give weight and a beating to his four rivals here to regain his crown.
14:05 United Front
UNITED FRONT was well below form in a listed contest at Lingfield last time, but the return to calmer waters here should see him leave that effort behind. He showed he is capable of smart form on his day when making it back-to-back wins with an impressive performance at Chelmsford earlier in December, quickening clear in the final 100 yards to win by three lengths. A repeat of that effort will give him every chance here as he seeks a third victory this winter.

TIBER FLOW looked a good prospect when making a successful debut at this course last month, quickening smartly to win by a length with something to spare. That was a useful performance and the small ‘p’ attached to her Timeform rating denotes that she is likely to go on improving, particularly now stepping up to seven furlongs. She is fancied to maintain her unbeaten record here before going on to bigger and better things.
15:15 Homer Stokes
HOMER STOKES showed improved form after five months off to regain the winning thread at Southwell two weeks ago, just needing to be driven out to get the verdict by half a length. He is only 3 lb higher in the weights here and it would be folly to rule out further progress given his unexposed profile. This will be just the fifth start of his career and his second on the all-weather, so he remains a horse to keep on the right side.
