THE GIRL THAT SANG is still a maiden after seven starts over hurdles, but she didn’t fare too badly in three appearances for the Sean Conway yard in the second half of last year. She has joined Fergal O’Brien in the interim and there should be races to be won with her from a BHA mark of 85, particularly now stepping up to two miles and three furlongs.
LOVE ENVOI looked a good prospect when making a winning hurdling debut at Leicester earlier this month, finding plenty late on despite refusing to settle in the early stages. It was a fair effort to land the spoils by nearly two lengths and she is likely to progress further as she gains in experience. This will be tougher under a penalty, but she is fancied to prove equal to the task on her way to bigger and better things.
BEAN IN TROUBLE showed a really good attitude to resume winning ways on his most recent outing at Wetherby, keeping going well after the last to get the verdict by a length. He acts well on heavy going and the way he shaped last time suggests the extra emphasis on stamina here will play to his strengths. Another bold bid is expected from just 3 lb higher in the weights.

SOMEKINDOFSTAR produced a career best after seven months off when filling the runner-up spot at Fontwell last time, looking the likeliest winner for a long way before being headed on the run-in. He was still beaten just a length and probably would have won if ridden a bit more patiently. A strong-travelling sort, he is only 2 lb higher in the weights here and this looks a good opportunity for him to gain compensation with a visor replacing the blinkers he usually wears.
GRAND TURINA finally ended her long losing run with a comfortable victory at Lingfield three weeks ago, asserting close home to get the verdict by a neck (value for extra). That was a big step in the right direction and a BHA mark of 113 is still fair judged on the balance of her form. After all, she has hit the frame from similar marks earlier in her career and the fine form of the Venetia Williams yard (seven winners from last 22 runners) also gives cause for optimism.
ELISEZMOI returned to form when third on his latest outing at Lingfield, weakening gradually from two out after leading for much of the race. He is 3 lb lower in the weights this time and his free-going style could lend itself to this track if he gets into a good rhythm. The heavy going won’t be an issue either and he could have a big say if the application of a first-time hood has the desired effect.
TECHNOLOGY makes plenty of appeal on pedigree, being by Yeats out of a half-sister to the Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Bobs Worth. Bought for €75,000 as a three-year-old, he clearly looks the part as well, so it will be interesting to see whether the market speaks in his favour in a bumper where those with previous experience under Rules set just a fair standard.
