11:35 Mashkuur

Mashkuur didn’t take the required step forward over a mile last time but after being slightly sluggish from the starting stalls he was rushed up and made a big effort in the middle part of the contest. Stepping up again in distance, and being well positioned from an inside berth, he can show the required improvement for a shrewd trainer in Stuart Williams who wouldn’t be stepping up in trip if he didn’t think it was within his compass.

12:10 Here And Now

Here And Now should retain the natural pace to drop back down in distance and take this solid handicap as his previous try at the distance was a success under Ryan Moore off a 1b higher mark at Wolverhampton, beating Carlos Felix easily. Laura Pearson takes over dragging his official rating down to 90 and he goes in here looking fairly well-weighted.

12:40 Lihou

Lihou has lots of solid form around this venue and was arguably unlucky at Wolverhampton last time after being slowly away it was reported that he was hanging quite badly left-handed. Jim Crowley gets to call up and it’s only a small field so being positioned in stall five is not too much of a worry. There looks to be plenty of pace on in here and he can get a nice lead into the straight.

13:15 Mobashir

Mobashir is the lightly raced runner in the lineup with a good bit of room for improvement yet. He’s going to need to step up if he’s going to make himself a legitimate contender for the mile final up at Newcastle this year. They didn’t seem to be many excuses last time, however, he still has that ticket to improve on what we have seen so far.

13:50 King Carney (E/W)

King Carney always came with a big ticket and threatened to win a big handicap for his previous outfit and the new team went in and picked him up for 35,000 Guineas at the horses in training sales. They are called the Risk Takers Partnership and they may well be rewarded at a massive price as he is now dropped to his lowest rating since June in 2020. He was a one-time Derby hope who finished behind English King and now he turns up in a seven Furlong handicap off just 83.
