MACHO MOVER produced a career-best effort when winning over this course and distance four weeks ago, proving well suited by the step up to three miles. He won by half a length and was arguably value for extra after making a serious mistake at the second flight. He is clearly going the right way and another bold bid is expected from just 4 lb higher in the weights.
TORN AND FRAYED stepped up on his previous efforts over fences when second at Cheltenham last time, sticking to his task well to pass the post seven lengths behind My Drogo. Admittedly, he was no match for the hugely talented winner, but it was still a useful performance and he looks potentially well treated now back in a handicap from a BHA mark of 133.
JUNGLE JACK made a promising start to his hurdling career when winning at Sedgefield four weeks ago, staying on well to land the spoils by a length. He’ll be suited by more galloping tracks and there should be better to come from him, so this looks a good opportunity for him to maintain his unbeaten record under a penalty.

THE TWO AMIGOS faced a stiff task when reappearing in the Many Clouds Chase at Aintree earlier this month and he was already struggling when falling at the twelfth fence. This represents a significant drop in grade now back in handicap company and he has gone well at Haydock in the past, notably finishing placed in the last two renewals of the Grand National Trial over this course and distance. Now 4 lb lower in the weights than when third in the latest edition, he would certainly be a deserving winner as he seeks a first victory since January 2019.
CHTI BALKO shaped encouragingly when filling the runner-up spot on his reappearance at this course two weeks ago, keeping on well to be beaten less than five lengths behind Green Book. The winner gave that form a boost when following up on his next start at Ludlow and Chti Balko is only 2 lb higher in the weights this time. He looks sure to give another good account in conditions he will relish (acts well on heavy going).
GERYVILLE has shown fairly useful form in two starts for Micky Hammond, making a winning debut for the yard at Wetherby in October and then running at least as well in defeat when second at the same course earlier this month. This looks a wide-open contest on paper, but Geryville’s form is working out well and he looks to have plenty in his favour from just a 1 lb higher mark than last time.
SPORTY JIM wasn’t seen to best effect when fourth on his debut at Market Rasen four weeks ago, never managing to get involved after being left with too much to do. He still showed plenty of ability under the circumstances and a race of this nature should be within his compass when you factor in his scope for more improvement.
