I rode Sir Gerhard during the week, he’s a lovely horse and is in great form. He’s won three of his four starts but had a slight blip at Punchestown back in April when finishing third behind Kilcruit and O’Toole. He should be rock solid but his price suggests that. I won’t put anyone off backing him here.

I can’t see past Fil Dor for Gordon Elliott and Davy Russell. He dominated at Down Royal in October when beating Sea Sessions by 16l and then he followed that up by beating Lunar Power at Fairyhouse in November. Lunar Power could be the only possible threat but I’m all over Fil Dor.
This is going to be Ferny Hollow‘s third run of the season. Riviere D’etel is the obvious threat but I feel Ferny Hollow will just have too much. Ferny Hollow won at Punchestown earlier this month, beating Coeur Sublime by 4l. That run was after a 13 month layoff so that win will have done him a world of good. He’ll be raring to go and I have no doubts.

I’m siding with Vanillier for Gavin Cromwell. He’s overpriced considering his last couple of runs. He ran really well behind Lifetime Ambition at Down Royan in October and followed that up with a win at Punchestown in November.
He slammed Fancy Foundations on that occasion and won by a staggering 26l. I’m not saying he’ll do that again but he’s a smart selection. If there’s a question mark it’s maybe the drop in trip but I like Vanillier’s chances in this one.
