Ayr 12:30 – SURE TOUCH

From the family of Long Run and showed fairly useful form when making a winning debut in a bumper last season, SURE TOUCH was set too much to do by his rider in a steadily-run affair on his hurdling debut at Southwell four weeks ago. He is best not judged on that effort, so is well worth another chance with improvement very much on the cards. Ballycoose and Parisencore look the main threats.

Ayr 13:05 – FOSTER’SISLAND

Micky Hammond’s upwardly-mobile FOSTER’SISLAND is firmly going the right way having won four of his last seven starts, and looked to have plenty left in the tank when scooting home here last month. Therefore, he is taken to defy a 7 lb rise in the weights, likely at the main expense of Serious Ego, who teed himself up nicely for this when a patiently ridden second at Hexham last time.

Ayr 13:40 – NELLS SON

There is plenty of potential on show here and, NELLS SON, who was strong at the finish when going in at the first attempt over hurdles at Kelso in October, is fancied to win again. He was useful in bumpers and has the potential to be at least as good over hurdles, especially now moving up in trip. Bill Baxter created a good impression when opening his account here last month and rates a big threat with Salvino, runner-up that day, also considered.

Ayr 14:15 – KILLANE

KILLANE quickly dispelled a blip (ran out at Southwell) when making it two wins from his last three starts over hurdles at Newcastle a couple of weeks ago, finding some improvement sporting first-time cheekpieces, and a subsequent 5 lb rise in the weights shouldn’t prevent another bold bid for Donald McCain’s low-mileage six-year-old. Fellow last-time-out winner’s Spark of Madness and Cancan are also fancied to be firmly in the mix.

Ayr 14:45 – SCOOP THE POT

The veteran SCOOP THE POT strung some good efforts together around this time last year and a 4 lb rise for his Newcastle success 12 days ago, where he seemed perked up by refitted headgear, doesn’t look too severe, so he might be capable of following up in a race that is lacking depth. Shanroe Al C’s excellent British record marks him down as an obvious danger, while Strong Economy certainly knows where the winning post is here.

15:15 – LINELEE KING

LINELEE KING very much looks the part for chasing, and displayed a good attitude when knuckling down to make a winning debut over fences at Aintree last month. He was well positioned that day, but found plenty to beat a next-time-out winner, the pair pulling clear of the third, and a 4 lb rise in the weights shouldn’t be enough to prevent him following up. Heartbreak Kid, who has run well on both outings this campaign, can pose the chief threat.
