Newbury 12:20 – One Journey
One Journey developed into a useful performer on the Flat for Roger Charlton and was especially impressive when bolting up in a mile-and-a-quarter handicap on testing ground here in October. She has since joined Paul Nicholls and, given her upwardly-mobile profile on the Flat, it would be little surprise were she to take high rank in this division. She could be a tough nut to crack if taking well to this new discipline.

Newbury 12:50 – I Am Maximus
I Am Maximus took a notable scalp on his debut in a Cheltenham bumper last year, beating My Drogo, and he made an encouraging start over hurdles at Exeter last month, despite meeting with defeat. I Am Maximus was only third at Exeter but he bumped into a couple of potentially smart rivals as Luttrell Lad had finished runner-up in the Persian War, while the winner JPR One has since advertised the form by shaping well in defeat at Cheltenham. I Am Maximus is entitled to progress for that experience and remains with plenty of potential.
Newbury 13:25 – Tide Times
Tide Times is 2lb out of the weights here but that is negated by Charlie Todd’s 3lb claim, and he looks worth siding with on the back of a promising chasing debut at Market Rasen last month. Tide Times was beaten four and three-quarter lengths in second but he would have finished much closer had he not clouted the last when nearly upsides. That was an encouraging effort from Tide Times, a winning pointer, and he should have more to offer over fences.
Newbury 14:00 – Silver Forever
Silver Forever won twice in bumpers and three times in novice hurdles, including in listed company at Sandown. She was off the track for 22 months before making her reappearance here last month but she showed she retains all her ability with a decisive victory. That was only a two-runner race, but she was up against a promising type who had shown useful form over hurdles, and she impressed with how she jumped at speed in the straight. She has the potential to do well as a chaser and can take the rise in class in her stride.

Newbury 14:35 – Pull Again Green
Pull Again Green won both starts in bumpers and shaped with encouragement when runner-up on his debut over hurdles at Ascot last month. That maiden hurdle was run at a steady pace and Pull Again Green showed his inexperience when the tempo finally lifted, looking immature and letting his rival get first run. He stuck to his task well, though, and was only beaten half a length, leaving the impression that he should come on for the experience and will be suited by a race run at a stronger gallop.
Newbury 15:05 – Darling du Large
Darling du Large is enjoying a productive campaign and made it four wins for the season when scoring at Wetherby last month. That two-runner race developed into a dash up the straight and Darling du Large always seemed to have the measure of her better-fancied rival. The emphasis could also be on speed in this four-runner race and the thriving Darling du Large should launch a bold bid, with Thomas Doggrell’s 8lb claim negating her 5lb rise for last time.
Newbury 15:35 – Poetic Music
Poetic Music sprang a surprise when making a winning bumper debut for John Butler at Market Rasen in October but the form has since been well advertised – the third and fifth won next time – and she looks up to defying a penalty. Poetic Music was sold for £60,000 after her winning debut and has joined Fergal O’Brien, who has a tremendous record with his bumper representatives.
