13:00 Wincanton – Striking A Pose (Cambridge Evening News: Luke Tucker)

STRIKING A POSE returned to the track last month after a seven-month break to win a six-runner novice handicap at Exeter on his chasing debut by length-and-a-half. He jumped soundly throughout that contest and held on well in the run in. He can continue his progress over fences here.

13:30 Wincanton – Earth Company (Morning Star: Farringdon)

The Philip Hobbs-trained EARTH COMPANY had a fair record in bumpers, and confirmed his hurdles promised by winning a novice contest at Taunton last time out. He hit the lead two from home and went clear very quickly that day. There should be more to come now that he is handicapping and that’s why he claims the selection.

15:00 Wincanton – Tashunka (Racing and Football Outlook: Andrew Mount)

TASHUNKA has run well in the last two handicaps she has entered for Fergal O’Brien. The mare was fourth in a 15-runner event at Exeter last time and she could well win one if she can hold it all together.

18:00 Newcastle – Lead Story (Daily Telegraph: Marlborough)

LEAD STORY clearly likes it at the Newcastle track and gets the nod because of that. Karl Burke’s charge was a course and distance winner here in September and also ran well to be runner-up over course and distance two weeks ago, despite being raised 2lbs in the weights.
