First Angel and Desert Friend have shown promise over hurdles, while Jungle Jack won his only Irish point, but WELL PLANTED was in the process of outrunning his odds when falling late on his hurdle debut here and has since bumped into a promising one of Nicky Richards’ at Ayr recently. First Angel is preferred for the forecast but any market interest in Kihavah would be interesting.
In a competitive race for the grade the suggestion is LATINO FLING, who was left behind by Pure Surf in the closing stages here four weeks ago but is better off at the weights this time. Pure Surf is earmarked as the main danger but Desaray Girl has slipped to a very tempting mark and benefits from a drop on grade today. Topkapi Star and Cailin Dearg also make significant appeal.
Contesting his first race at this lower level, a chance is taken on ENVOL DE LA COUR. This free-going 7yo is often his own worst enemy but a truer pace at this shorter distance should benefit him, no matter how he’s ridden. Lusitanien appeals as a likely improver and is second choice, whilst Lord Caprio, Enlighten, Mi Laddo and Getaway Jewel all go on the shortlist.
Lord Getaway was third in a better race than this last time and should go well, along with Diamond Brig. NO CRUISE YET (nap) is another with standout claims, as he looked threatening when coming down late on last week at Doncaster.
Former Cheltenham Festival winner Mister Whitaker will probably take a lot of beating but NO WORD OF A LIE is not without hope of making it interesting. Bridge North and Glorious Spirit also have potential.
A red-hot race for the grade, featuring the highly progressive Cilluirid along with possible improvers Bavington Bob and Sounds Russian. However, they could all be trumped by BANDIT D’AINAY on his British debut, as he looks to have been let in lightly by the handicapper judged on the pick of his French form. Chasing newcomer Bavington Bob is second choice ahead of Sounds Russian.
Grove Road has had his Irish point form boosted only recently and Stroll On By was a strong favourite when just missing out at Carlisle, so both need considering. However, SUMMERGROUNDS ran a fine first race at Kelso and that form already looks respectable.
