Of the ones that have run – and it’s unlikely one of the horse that haven’t had a run will be any good – FIL DOR looks the most exciting prospect. He hosed up at Down Royal first time out at the end of last month and could be a really good one for his trainer Gordon Elliot.
Although My Mate Mozzie and Mighty Potter both look potentially top class, I thought that Colm Murphy’s IMPERVIOUS is one that has also done nothing wrong. She is on the up, and the odds make her of more appeal than the other two mentioned. This is an open race, so there isn’t that much between Impervious and the top two. That makes her the value play in the Royal Bond Novice Hurdle.
LIFETIME AMBITION is a really consistent sort, and this trip is tailor-made for him. Beacon Edge has the benefit of the run last time behind Lifetime Ambition, but I still believe he wants further than the trip on offer here. Gabynako is also possibly very good, but I’d prefer to see him put a couple of good runs together before backing him in a Grade 1. Lifetime Ambition has proven his consistency already, and I fancy him pretty strongly.
There are two horses here that will prefer the current ground conditions and that’s Fairyhill Run and THE DABBLER. Liam Cusack’s charge is just a little bit out of the handicap and I’m going for him. The ground will him suit way better than most others in this Porterstown Handicap Chase, even if he is stepping up in trip a little bit. Hopefully, he will be able see out the trip as an each-way chance.
HONEYSUCKLE just keeps doing it for Henry De Bromhead. The stable is flying, the jockey Rachael Blackmore can do no wrong and the mare wins first time out every season! The trip is perfect, the ground should be fine and she clearly is the best horse in the race.
The Hatton’s Grace Hurdle is quite compelling really! The only thing is, at what stage does in become a fear of failure with her – rather than the excitement of just winning all the time? That’s what makes this intriguing.
