NEW TO PADDY POWER?

13.15 – GOOD RISK AT ALL

ITV Friday gets underway with a maiden hurdle over an extended 2m. Obviously all eyes on Jonbon here but if the price allows I’d much rather have a decent each-way bet on GOOD RISK AT ALL for Sam Thomas and Sam Twiston-Davies. Jonbon sweated up badly in a recent gallop and he’ll have to be on top of his game to beat my hope who has already shown plenty of ability. A Cheltenham bumper winner, Good Risk at All went on to score at this course before running second on hurdling debut at Chepstow. Slow jumps at the last two flights cost him that day and he’s promising for an in-form stable.

13.50 – SOLO

A novices’ limited handicap chase over an extended 2m. SOLO has always been held in high regard by Paul Nicholls but to be quite honest has been a major disappointment since landing the Adonis Hurdle at Kempton as a youngster. I’d just about given up on him, but I’m giving him another go after a terrific effort at Ascot first time this season. That was a in a similar event to this and he showed guts to just be pipped by Nassalam. The five-year-old is up 4lb for that defeat but is rated 139 and was once 157 and may end up a better chaser than hurdler. Keep the faith.

14.25 – UMBRIGADO

Now a handicap chase over 2m4f. This is hard. UMBRIGADO has each-way claims for David Pipe and David Noonan. My selection is back over fences having had two goes over the smaller obstacles. His third at Bangor last time was a fair effort and he’s a better chase. He can go off a mark of 146 here but that is 5lb lower than when he was last chasing and he won at this track off 144 when last scoring in March.

15.00 – PAISLEY PARK

This is the feature Grade 2 Long Distance Hurdle over 3m. Cheekpieces are on and this is D-Day for PAISLEY PARK who has to win this to show he’s still right up there with the best of the staying hurdlers for Emma Lavelle and Aidan Coleman. This is not a strong renewal and the former Cheltenham hero really has to get the job done. Paisley Park’s seasonal debut behind Indefatigable at Weatherby was laboured but it’s hope the cheekpieces will make all the difference.

Racing-Neutral-Newbury

15.35 – SLATE HOUSE

Finally a handicap hurdle over 3m. SLATE HOUSE comes with huge risks and he was desperate on his comeback at Wetherby over hurdles. That said, he’s always had some class and he’s very well handicapped for the stable that is now going well. Brendan Powell takes the ride. Once rated 156, Slate House is down to 137 and stays well. He might just outclass this lot if he’s anywhere near right. It’s a big chance to take but I will risk it.

So best of luck and pray for Yeeehaaas. You hear me Paddy?
