16:00 – Samrouge

Theriverrunsdeep won in first-time blinkers here recently, he had a good draw and a good trip round. He did win well but he’s gone up 8lbs for that and I’m looking at the horse who was 3rd to him that day, Samrouge.

NEW TO PADDY POWER?

Trained by Ross O’Sullivan, he had a horrible draw last time in stall 13. He ran on really well to be beaten a couple of lengths behind Theriverrunsdeep and, in comparison here, he’s got a good draw in stall 5. He’s very unexposed and SAMROUGE is the value to take on Theriverrunsdeep in Friday’s first race.

NEW TO PADDY POWER?

16:30 – Duleek Street

I like a horse at the top of the weight, Duleek Street, trained by John McConnell. This horse was very good around here recently when 2nd, keeping on strongly inside the last 1/2 furlong. He’s very lightly raced with only five starts to date. He’s improved for the step up in trip and I think, with a kind draw in stall 3, he will take some beating.

An alternative to him, if punters want to play one for value, the bottom horse Mayan Son is interesting. Was 4th behind Duleek Street last time and improved a lot for the step up in trip and the all-weather. But, for me, DULEEK STREET is the one to beat.

17:00 – Derrinlaur

This is probably the lesser division of the two in some respects. Lady Of Luxury is a little bit out of form but has a great course record. The horse to beat is No.3, DERRINLAUR, trained by Jessica Harrington.

She’s a lightly-raced filly, first time on the Polytrack last time and she stayed on really well to be 3rd. Looks like she’s still learning on the job, with first-time cheekpieces. She’ll be a lot sharper on Friday and she’s got a good draw and a top apprentice in Mikey Sheehy booked. She’ll be hard to beat.

17:30 – New Star

Hopefully the eight runners all pitch up and obviously give punters and angle with the each-way. A competitive race, as you’d expect. Chaos Control was a wide-margin winner last time in a weak-enough race. He’s gone up 7lbs in the weights.

He had a little bit more on here tomorrow for all that he’s improving. Ile De Circe, Jessica Harrington’s runner, is entitled to improve off her run last time where she stayed on well to be 2nd.

However, the one I like – I’m taking a chance on him – is the top weight NEW STAR. We haven’t seen him since he bombed out on fast ground over 6f at Fairyhouse. If you go back to his two runs at the Curragh prior to that they were very good runs in very good races.

He’s dropping down in grade here up to 1m. It’s his first run on Polytrack and could improve a lot for that. Given the length of time off I think he’ll be fresh and ready to go on Friday.

18:00 – Gudrid

Daisy Jones, trained by Kevin Prendergast, actually trialled well at this track and didn’t run too badly on her debut, looking green. She’s entitled to improve off that as is Je Tai Porte who was a good 2nd in a weak-enough maiden here last time, just couldn’t reel in the long-time leader.

She, again, is entitled to improve. However, the one to beat is No.10 GUDRID, trained by Joseph O’Brien. Had a very good 2nd here recently, keeping on well. Again, looking like she’s learning on the job, she’s had a mid-season break and she just might be ready to peak tomorrow. She’s the one to beat.

18:30 – Brostaigh

Chicago Lightening trialled only okay at the track but that was quite a length of time ago, she’s entitled to improve off it. It’s interesting to see that Ben Coen rides that over the stable companion Scipios Defense who is a debutant as well.

Not a strong maiden by any means. BROSTAIGH, trained by Joseph O’Brien, on paper should be very hard to beat. She will be a long odds-on favourite and it’s very hard to see beyond her on the back of a very good run recently.

19:00 – Dream Today

This is going to be a hard race to work out, Sendmylovetoyou is interesting for the Mick Halford team. She’s just coming back to, maybe, something like her best and is drawn in stall 9. You could make a case for a lot of runners in this, though.

Adrian McGuinness has got two in it, Ger Lyons has got two that would have chances and James McAuley has got two in it, Sister Lola and Meishar, who has been a revelation since dropping to 6f. He bolted up here recently but he’s going up in the weights. He’s 6lbs higher.

It’s a race where there looks like there’s a lot of pace on. If Meishar gets taken on he might pay a price for that later and I’m going to go for a horse who will be finishing fast down the inside, it’s No. 2 DREAM TODAY trained by Adrian McGuinness.

He ran well at the track here recently, but is yet to win on the all-weather. However, he’s got a good draw, a good set-up for him in stall 1. I think he could finish strongly and cause an upset.

19:30 – Belgroprince

This is a really completive handicap and again you’d love it if the eight runners stayed in because there will be value perhaps to be found on each of the eight runners. It’s very hard to discount any runner in the race. The obvious ones are Bradesco, a bit of a revelation since switching to the Polytrack for Luke Comer, he’s having a great time.

He’s won his last two. He’s probably the one to beat, he’s a little bit more on, though, and I’m going to go with Belgoprince trained by Tony Martin. This horse ran very well at Cheltenham in a handicap hurdle recently. He was just beaten over this trip last year and was a good winner during the summer months.

He could be value to take on Bradesco. Keep an eye out for market movement with the bottom on Jake Peter. This one is trained by the Cahills and has very good course form as well. Ran well recently at the track but, for me, it’s BELGOPRINCE.
