The bare form is nothing out of the ordinary but LE CHIFFRE D’OR was firmly in command in the closing stages when scoring over 2m here on his recent hurdling debut and, now upped in trip, he has an excellent chance to follow up today. Irish point winner Fashion’s Model was ultimately well beaten on last week’s seasonal/hurdle debut but some positives can be drawn from that performance and she may fare best of the others.

Nazwa and MERRY MISTRESS were both placed over 2m on their recent handicap debuts and may fight this out. If their pedigrees are a guide, David Dennis’ mare ought to derive more benefit from today’s longer trip. Raven Court has questions to answer after two disappointing chase runs this autumn but he reverts to hurdling on a very tempting mark.
13:35 Loup De Maulde
The most obvious answer to this modest novices’ handicap is LOUP DE MAULDE, who was a long way off the pace after swerving to avoid a faller at the second fence here on his recent chase/handicap debut but gradually worked his way into contention and finished a creditable third. He’s only 1lb higher today and can open his account. Zamani has something to build on after a fairly encouraging run at Ludlow three weeks ago, while Ben Buie may also take a step forward here.

14:10 Grace A Vous Enki
Ballintubber Boy made a winning start to his hurdling career at Stratford last month but will probably need to take a good step forward to beat GRACE A VOUS ENKI here. Paul Nicholls’ 5yo, a useful chaser in France, went down fighting on last month’s British debut and ought to find this much easier than his subsequent assignment at Cheltenham.
14:40 Josie Abbing
Back over hurdles after winning two chases, Nikap seems to have benefited from the combination of a change of stable and a change of tactics this autumn. She is respected but there may still be more improvement to come from JOSIE ABBING, who was perhaps fortunate to escape with an unchanged mark after her close/clear second over C&D last month and was not discredited on soft ground at Ascot on her latest appearance.
15:10 Champagne Noir (NAP)
Marilyn Monroe capitalised upon a good opportunity when making all at Wincanton last week and might have a bit more to offer if aided by the first-time blinkers here but her 7lb penalty might leave her vulnerable to CHAMPAGNE NOIR (nap), who was a clear second to a resurgent rival over hurdles at Huntingdon two starts ago and remains below the mark off which he won a chase there last season.
15:40 Lallygag
Lalor’s brother LALLYGAG was well clear of the third when second at Newton Abbot last month and he appeals most. Zucayan is the other key player, with newcomer Sorellina Royale also requiring a check.
