It’s a small but select field of horse racing fixtures in the UK and Ireland on Sunday with just three meets to get stuck into. We’ve got two in England at Exeter and Uttoxeter as well as action from Navan.

With only the odd scattered shower forecast through the day, this small field staying handicap chase looks at the mercy of good ground specialist TASTE THE FEAR. I was at the track earlier this year when this athletic looking stayer romped home on a sound surface in a 3m novice hurdle, followed by an equally impressive 2-and-three-quarter length success over Ask Henry at Market Rasen again on good ground.

13:30 Exeter – Gazette Bourgeoise (Timeform)

GAZETTE BOURGEOISE and So Said I were a long way clear of the rest when occupying the first two positions at Stratford last month and look the pair to focus on. That was a much improved display from the former, who was consistent not progressive last season, but she won with a fair bit in hand, and could well kick on further now she has got her head in front.

13:50 Navan – Hollow Games (Frank Hickey)

I’m surprised that Ginto and Hollow Games have both declared for Gordon Elliott. HOLLOW GAMES is arguably the slightly more exciting of the pair and you can see why Davy Russell would pick him over Ginto.

14:50 Navan – Mister Fogpatches (Paddy Power)

MISTER FOGPATCHES really doesn’t win very often but is usually fancied in these big competitive handicaps. Good ground will be key and it’s unusual for this race to be run on good.
