12:30 Ramble West
Ramble West, a runner-up on her two completed outings in points, made a successful start under Rules at Musselburgh a few weeks ago, landing a bumper by 21 lengths. The form of that contest isn’t the easiest to assess but it’s rare to see bumpers won by that far and she is a good recruit to hurdling for the in-form Donald McCain.
NEW TO PADDY POWER?
13:00 Sarvi
Sarvi seemed to find the step up to two and a half miles posing too stiff a test of stamina when fifth here last time, but she showed enough to suggest that she remains in decent form. Sarvi travelled smoothly and still held every chance at the second-last but was unable to sustain the effort close home. She will appreciate this drop in trip and Tom Midgley, who has won aboard her before, takes off a valuable 7 lb.

13:35 Foster’sisland
Foster’sisland failed to meet expectations on his reappearance at Carlisle last month but he put up a much-improved effort at Kelso a couple of weeks ago, producing a career-best effort. Foster’sisland made smooth headway to pick things up between the final two fences and he ran out an emphatic four-and-three-quarter-length winner. The style of that success suggests that a 6 lb higher mark may not be enough to stop him following up.
14:10 Fete Champetre
There are a few interesting types in this but the vote goes to Fete Champetre. He ultimately blotted his copybook on his chasing debut at Hexham earlier this month, running out at the final fence when likely to have finished second, but there had been plenty to like about his performance up to that point. Fete Champetre was a dual winner over hurdles but he is a tall type with the physique for chasing and he largely jumped well at Hexham. It’s worth forgiving him for his late aberration and he retains the scope to do well over fences.
14:45 Be The Difference
Be The Difference justified strong support when an easy winner here last week and he will be tough to beat under a 7 lb penalty. That nine-length success came over just shy of two and a half miles, but Be The Difference shapes as if this longer trip is within his range and he could still be a fair way ahead of the handicapper.
15:15 Heartbreak Kid
Heartbreak Kid shaped as if the run would bring him on when third on his reappearance at Sedgefield earlier this month and he should take a step forward from that. Heartbreak Kid has been dropped 1 lb by the handicapper, which seems generous, and the continued good form of trainer Donald McCain is in his favour.
