12:10 Might I

The form of MIGHT I’s comfortable hurdle debut win at Newton Abbot last month is working out well and that performance gives him leading claims today. Sonigino has his first run for Paul Nicholls and is feared most having won his final two starts in France. Barrichello and It’s Good To Laugh could have more to offer.

NEW TO PADDY POWER?

12:40 Defuture Is Bright

Amateur (second choice) is sure to have a big say if picking up where he left off in the spring, while Furius De Ciergues should continue his run of good form back up in trip, but DEFUTURE IS BRIGHT appeals as another Christian Williams-trained staying chaser who could work his way through the ranks and he can build on quite an encouraging run behind Furius De Ciergues at Cheltenham last month.

13:15 Our Surprise

If a first-time hood has any sort of calming effect on OUR SURPRISE then he’s the one to beat as he went down only narrowly in a competitive heat at Wetherby recently despite proving headstrong. Mackenberg faded to finish 11l behind the selection in third at the West Yorkshire venue but he looked like doing a lot better for a long way and may have have just blown up. He’s put up as the chief threat ahead of the reliable Tommy’s Oscar in an interesting race.

13:50 Bravemansgame

Paul Nicholls has won seven of the last nine runnings and can triumph again with BRAVEMANSGAME, who has serious star potential. He won the Grade 1 Challow Novices’ Hurdle at Newbury last December and was very impressive at Newton Abbot on last month’s chase debut. Old Roan runner-up Itchy Feet could be best of the rest, ahead of the progressive 6yo Pay The Piper.

14:25 Doctor Duffy

Irish trainer Charles Byrnes had a winner at Cheltenham last Friday and DOCTOR DUFFY is well handicapped on last year’s chase form and was an encouraging second over hurdles last month after a break. The return of the visor could be a plus and he’s the selection ahead of Dans Le Vent, who has shaped as though he’ll appreciate today’s step back up in trip. Last month’s Wetherby winner Flight Deck is third choice, and other unexposed types who could run well are Orbys Legend, Bass Rock and Riggs. The Emmet Mullins-trained Rightplacerightime will be all the more interesting if particularly strong in the betting.

15:00 Bristol De Mai

A Plus Tard holds leading form claims having finished second in the Gold Cup last time out in March, but he’s tended to improve for his reappearance outings. That might be different today given this prestigious target, but preference is for BRISTOL DE MAI who has contested this race in each of the last four seasons and come away with three wins and a second. If any other contender is to threaten this pair it could be Royal Pagaille, who has something to prove on the forecast good to soft ground but was extremely impressive in the Peter Marsh over C&D in January. Imperial Aura and Waiting Patiently could also run well.

15:35 Strictlyadancer (NA)

The progressive 7yo STRICTLYADANCER (nap) can land the hat-trick having won competitive handicaps at Cheltenham this autumn. The unexposed 7yo Empire Steel showed plenty of promise during last season’s novice chase campaign and is second choice.
