Last month’s course winner GROSVENOR COURT can defy a penalty in a race lacking any depth. Earth Lord is the standout danger, as it’s questionable what Jersey Lady achieved at Hereford.

A weak race in which PUFFIN BAY must have leading claims on what she’s shown already over hurdles. Cool Stone has a pedigree that suggests improvement should be forthcoming at some point, while Get The Game and Grumpy Freya are probably capable of leaving their latest efforts behind.

14:15 Royal Pretender

Alan King believes ROYAL PRETENDER has returned a stronger horse this season and he earns narrow preference over Time To Tinker, a fellow novice winner last time out. Thahab Ifraj has the form to bustle them both up but he’s not been firing as he can.

14:45 Armattiekan

The safe play is ARMATTIEKAN, who will improve for getting back on good ground and Theo Gillard’s 5lbs claim is welcomed. Jarlath may be the one he has to beat.

15:15 Thyme White

Chasing was always going to be the game for THYME WHITE, who was an impressive winner over hurdles on last season’s reappearance. Amarillo Sky might be able to lead this time, which wasn’t the case when fourth on his recent chase debut. Golden Taipan didn’t achieve all that much when winning at Ludlow. Pasvolsky has potential.

15:50 Noble Savage

Finn Lambert has created a good impression this season and NOBLE SAVAGE (NAP) is unlikely to come up against one so well handicapped as was the case at Lingfield last time. Last year’s runner-up Majestic Merlin is second choice, though Norley and Amelia’s Dance are others with solid claims.
