Light Up Our Stars is respected after his brave win over 8.6f here last time but RICKSEN didn’t get much luck when third in that race and he may be able to turn the tables and come out on top this time. Gold Souk and Billy Roberts finished first and second over C&D 14 days ago and they should be in the thick of things again, while another to consider is Nuble who has not been with Marco Botti for long and was a creditable third at Kempton last Monday.
This looks trappy but it may be solved by an improved display from Roger Varian’s unexposed filly MULBERRY SILK, who is bred to be much better than her opening mark. The main threat could come from Elixsoft, who is only 1lb higher than for her win at Ayr in May and ran a promising race at Newcastle on her recent first run since. Third choice is course specialist Hooflepuff, who probably did too much too soon here last time and looks interesting on his drop back from 1m4f.
An interesting race in which the vote goes to BOTANIST, who chased home a useful rival at Brighton last time and has just about the best form on his switch to AW. Antiphon has also shown clear promise in both his runs and he’s feared most, although Dakota Power found plenty of progress when scoring over C&D last month and is respected under a penalty. Maiden’s Green has not been seen since her debut third at Goodwood in May but is a big player if she can build on that.
Dual winner Golden Warrior is open to more progress at this new trip on his nursery/stable debut, while Roger Teal’s Never In Fourth also looks interesting on his step up to 7f. They are respected but preference is for the William Haggas-trained IRISH MILLIONS, who surged back to form with a tongue-tie added when clear second in a C&D nursery two weeks ago.
A couple of the 3yos are capable of better but Desert Emperor has shown enough to win an event like this and ARTHUR’S SEAT brings useful bumper form into the contest. They may be the pair to focus on, with the latter looking the most appealing option.

The Charlie Appleby-trained 3yo WEDDING DANCE (nap) went close in a French Group 3 last August and, having performed respectably in a Listed race this September on her sole run since, she can capitalise on this drop back in grade. Rising Star is 2-2 on AW and is second choice with soft ground providing an excuse for her below-par run at Ascot last time.
Top of the list is SHANGHAI ROCK, who knuckled down well when justifying favouritism off a reduced mark at Chelmsford three weeks ago and has had just a 2lb rise. The other last-time-out winner Glamorous Force is feared most, though Blue Venture has held her form fairly well since her win in July and could be a major factor if she gets a good pace and some luck.
Winklevi and Hashtagmetoo should make a bold bid under suitable conditions but it might be worth taking a chance on the lightly raced KING CHARLES. A Tapeta winner on his final start for Marco Botti, he shaped with promise on his stable debut in June and could have a bigger run in him back on AW.
