Having looked accomplished in his two chase wins, including over course and distance, CAPE GENTLEMAN (NAP) can climb another rung on the chasing ladder and take this. Riviere D’Etel looked good on chasing debut last time and is a danger off a low weight, while Embittered is experienced and won’t go down easily.

Though Iberique Du Seuil will be fancied to recoup losses from his Galway hurdling debut, LUNAR POWER is a solid alternative at the prices. He showed improved form on the Flat last time and should have learnt plenty from his sole hurdles run in August. Doctor Churchill won’t be far away, while Swinging London is interesting.

There shouldn’t be much to choose between Purple Mountain and The Names Jock on their running in a Tipperary Grade 3 last time and both should go well, albeit the latter needs to jump better. However, TOP BANDIT was a taking winner of a Cheltenham maiden hurdle last time and is a progressive sort, so could just edge it.

Dual bumper winner CARRARAE has not looked completely straightforward on his first two starts over hurdles, but may prove equal to this task. Noble Birth is the obvious alternative on bumper form. Happy Du Mesnil is a potentially interesting recruit from France. Park Hind, whose dam had plenty of ability, has shown some potential.

The key-race here may be the Galway event in which Glenquin Castle made it five in a row. The third ROPED IN, who was making her handicap and seasonal debut, is tipped to turn the tables on the winner and on runner-up Humps And Bumps. Also worth considering is Gateau Du Miel, a young horse open to improvement.

15:30 Minella Crooner

A surprisingly uncompetitive winners’ bumper for this venue and MINELLA CROONER should follow up his recent Sligo win. Junior Alliance is an interesting debutant and the market could be informative regarding his credentials.
