13:40 Cheltenham – Third Time Lucki

ITV Racing on Saturday gets underway here with a Grade 2 novice chase over 2m. No great imagination here, but THIRD TIME LUCKI was sensational on his chasing debut at Cheltenham at the last meeting and is impossible to oppose. The Dan and Harry Skelton inmate was a class bumper performer back in the day, and was a decent enough hurdler without quite scaling the heights that one could’ve expected. He was absolutely faultless on his chasing debut, and if he matches that again here goes down as one of the most exciting horses to follow this jump season.

NEW TO PADDY POWER?

14:15 Cheltenham – Simply The Betts (E/W)

The race I love to beat Paddy in – the feature Paddy Power Gold Cup Handicap Chase. SIMPLY THE BETTS flopped in this race last year but he might be a very different proposition here for champion Paul Nicholls and Bryony Frost. The former exciting chaser has been lightly raced in recent times but has his first run for Nicholls and also goes for the first time since a wind operation.

I think his running style will suit Frost down to the ground and the pair might be hard to catch if allowed to free wheel up front. This horse was so impressive in the Brown Advisory and Merriebelle Plate at the 2020 Cheltenham Festival. Nicholls has more fancied contenders but this boy might be a huge price. Have a few quid on each way.

14:50 Cheltenham – Ballymillsy

Another handicap here but this time a Listed hurdle event over 3m. A wide open affair. BALLYMILLSY is only young compared to most of these but stays better than a good deal of his rivals and might have more to offer. The Twiston-Davies inmate is having just his ninth race and did well at Newton Abbot last time. This is much tougher but he’s improving all the time.

15:05 Lingfield – Misty Grey (E/W)

ITV are also at Lingfield for the Listed Rose Stakes over 6f. MISTY GREY gets the edge here on the draw. The Tom Dascombe runner is partnered by Richard Kingscote and was behind Exalted Angel when last seen. I think he can reverse the form and is a fair each way bet.

Coral Cup Cheltenham March 11, 2020

15:25 Cheltenham – Unexpected Party

Finally from Cheltenham, a handicap hurdle over 2m5f. UNEXPECTED PARTY could be chucked in here off 120. The Skelton runner was a facile victor of a handicap hurdle at Wetherby last time and he’d have won with 11lb more on his back that day. The opposition here is a lot harder but as an animal who cost 150,000 euros you would hope he would be up to this level.

15:40 Lingfield – Pyledriver

It’s a wrap with the Listed Churchill Stakes over 1m2f. A decent renewal but PYLEDRIVER really should be too classy if he takes to the surface. The Coronation Cup winner has to give weight away but he has a good draw for the William Muir team and Martin Dwyer should be able to get a win out of him even if the Epsom form has taken some battering. As a horse rated 120 he should just be too good.

So best of luck and pray for Yeeehaaas. You hear me Paddy?
