There was plenty of market confidence behind THEATRE GLORY ahead of her bumper debut success at Worcester in the spring, and she always appeared to have matters in hand on the front end. She’s seemingly well regarded and looks a good prospect for a top yard now having her attentions turned to hurdling. The Olly Murphy team is flying so Chosen Port, who was placed twice in bumpers last term, is fancied to give her most to do.
This doesn’t look the strongest race and ready preference is for RAFFERTY, who did the job well on his first attempt in a handicap chase at Market Rasen last month. He was backed into favouritism retried in a hood and showed much improved form, and that race is working out well with the third and fifth both winning next time. A subsequent 10 lb rise in the weights may not be enough to prevent him from striking again. Dreamsundermyfeet’s winning run was brought to a halt at Worcester last time, but he was progressive prior to that and is feared most.
This looks quite a useful handicap. The second and third have both boosted the form of TAKEIT EASY‘s win at Wetherby last month and Pam Sly’s charge has now won four of his last seven starts. Therefore, he is fancied to enhance his already good strike-rate and record another victory, likely at the main expense of Sage Advice, who ran an eye-catching race in the Fred Winter when last seen over hurdles and, fit from the Flat, looks a danger.
MILITARIAN and Kilfilum Cross are both very well handicapped on the pick of their form, and there’s a feeling that both could revive faced with a much less competitive scenario than has generally been the case in recent years. A narrow vote goes the way of the former but the betting may provide more pointers.

These aren’t a convincing bunch on the whole, but ALBERIC ran better than the end result would suggest at Fontwell three weeks ago, and he could be the answer in a change of headgear. He hasn’t had many chances in handicaps, represents a yard that are in form, and he is entitled to come on again for his latest run. Mr Yeats has to be feared given he’s fit and in form, while Bartholomew J is also of some interest.
SALLEY GARDENS has found some improvement since stepping up to two and a half miles recently, and with still relatively few miles on the clock, he remains one to be interested in. He was beaten only by a next-time-out winner at this track last time and this slightly longer trip should help. Dynali is another who was beaten only by a subsequent winner at Ludlow last time, so is respected dropping back in trip, with Rebel Royal another to consider having found some form again from his reduced mark.
ALAZWAR made an impressive start to his career when bolting up in a similar event over course and distance last month and the form has received a boost subsequently, so he’ll be a tough nut to crack as he bids to defy a penalty for a yard that don’t have many runners in this sphere. Newcomers Abingworth and Zuul look the pick of the opposition without the benefit of market clues.
